Latest article from Wang Meng on Titan Sports about the recent improvement and new issues/problems of the Houston Rockets.

It also talked about the team's consensus that it is Tracy McGrady that needs to make sacrifice to gel and adapt into the current systems, and not the systems trying to gel and adapt with Tracy McGrady.

Interesting. Good to hear Yao speak up, maybe this will give T-Mac further encouragement to completely adapt to the game plan.

Although, I still feel early in the season he was fitting in perfectly and only changed his style when Adelman started using more pick and rolls and last year's sets to get more people involved. I mean, just look at this video-

good read, thanks for the post.

its apparent that T-Mac needs to gel into the current style of play and not make the play gel to him being on the court.
    hopefuly tmac understands this... :)

I thought Tmac already said this before the season started.

I wonder why Yao doesn't reveal to the American media as much as he reveals to the Chinese media. Also has he said anything about the iso thing?

Yes, tmac must be a team player and stop acting like he has to go 13 in 35 for the rox to win.

I think McGrady was conforming to the system but felt the need to take over because his teammates weren't hitting shots. With Alston, Head, James and Battier all slumping it put the burden on Tmac to score. And why not; he is our best scorer. Where everybody started getting down on Tmac was when Alston went out. I don't think people realized how much Alston means to this team. When he was out the Rockets fell apart with Francis starting. That was the Philly and Toronto games. The role players have been hitting their shots. The rockets win when a lot when that happens. They can still win when they're not but it takes big games from Yao and McGrady to do it. This team will be fine and should make a good push with health and a softer schedule. I still believe in this team especially with the emergence of Aaron Brooks.

What is it with the rockets and slacking off when they're up big? They've done this every year for the past 4 years. It's starting to grow old. You'd think they would learn.

The only way McGrady can reclaim his status as one of the most high impact players in the NBA will be by shooting less, looking for better shots, setting up teammates early, and dedicating himself on defense. If he does exactly what Ming suggested, fitting into the system and adapting to everyone else, we should have a deadly offense/defense.

Making McGrady the centerpiece should be held for certain situations, after halftime for example when the opponent gameplans to counter what we have already got going. No way should he continue to lead the NBA in shots per game. If he does then thats on Adelman.

    awesome article.

i'm loving Yao more and more everyday. he's got so much heart and he just wants to win so bad. with him him talking about closing out quarters and not letting teams come back within striking distance, that was just plain MVPish thinking of him. Seems like he is looking at the team realistically and is trying with everything he has to make it better.

i have to give it to him for playing so well and especially getting ALL his teammates involved and energized too. that part where it said how he seemed more happy when he would set up a play for his teammate, than when he made play for himself, shows the true winner in him. a real winner knows the importance of the whole team. every single player whether it be deep off the bench or whatever, needs to have the same team chemistry and confidence from his star player as everyone else does.

i don't think tracy thinks any differently, but i don't think he has that same energy and team chemistry. Everybody knows that he is not a talkative person on the court and he is not a leader, he just lets his playing do the talking. that can be a very bad thing. it's like one player who does not fit in with the team's chemistry and that player happens to be the best player on the team.

i really hope that Yao will try to really keep all this emotion and energy with the team and not let tracy be a distraction. it would be so damn awesome if yao stood up and really took over the team, maybe calling out tracy for shooting the ball instead of getting another player involved first, even if tracy did make the particular shot. then if tracy lets his ego get in the way, this is not his team. but if tracy can understand and not only setup his teammates along with yao, but have that same confidence and support for his team, then i believe we will dominate the rest of the season and beyond.

i just really like the chemistry that is finally becoming alive in this team. it would really be a shame to see it disappear with the come-back of our star player. i'm gonna be so pissed off if i don't see tracy with a motivated and energetic game when he comes back.

Pryuen, I am starting to believe you are a YOH. Otherwise, why do you post a garbage article like this?

I don't believe Yao said that. He is not qualified to say that! That is up to the coach.

I remember last season Tmac said he missed Yao when Yao was injued and Tmac lead the team. Although without Yao, the recokets had a good record, Tmac never said Yao needed to scacrifice to adapt to systems!

If Yao did say those words, I have to believe Tmac is a nicer person than Yao!

Something wrong with the translation, especially the title. It sounds so ambitious and offensive in English. But I know that's not Yao's style.
It's a bad article to get Rox in dispution. I hate those guys to bring trouble here.

i see many changes in the game vs knicks, guys just cut and run, that made fluid ball movements and offense execution

How often does TMac actually take 35 shots? This season, he's had one game with 31 (35 pts) and one with 30 (40 pts). He really isn't a selfish offensive player.

What do you think about "We are now able to enter into a virtuous circle"? Relax, it's just Chinese being translated into English. It might sound a little stilted or flowery in English, but in Chinese I'm sure it sounds fine.

Not the first time that Pryuen has sensationalized the news articles in order to pump up the viewership of his threads. Anyone can see that this guy has serious problem. I have said it before that he should be banned or at least forbidden to start new threads.

I'm guessing his English is a lot better than your Chinese.

If you can read, I didn't say his English is poor. Actually, his English is good enough to sensationalize stuffs in order to pump up the viewership of his threads.

Good article, always nice to get a different perspective from Yao back to us.

I definitely t-mac knows and welcomes the change and will be able to thrive not having to carry the offensive burden. I really don't think he did for any reason then he felt he had to.

I think he'll enjoy just having to play ball and being more of the guy who closes out quarters and open's things up for his t-mates. ;)

seriously, it will probably improve his game as he sees less double teams. he'll work less harder for good shots.
