I thought this started at 7 and didn't plan to watch. At least I caught 30 minutes before the Rockets game. IMO, not very interesting at all.
I only watched parts of this along with the NFL game, but I wasn't terribly impressed with McCain, which was disappointing. He seemed absent a lot too. Some of it is the format where strong voices will dominate - that's not McCain as much as, say, Romney or Guiliani. But I really thought McCain needed a good performance to solidify him as the alternative to Romney, and I'm not sure he did that. If a lot of the independents go for Obama in the Dem primary, it makes McCain's road much tougher.
Agreed. McCain didn't do well at all, and people who use debates to make decisions will be disappointed in him.
The Democratic debate was a little bit more boring, in my honest opinion. I was unhappy with the responses.
I understand why they let Romney continue to dominate the floor, he is still the front-runner and a demanding guy. That being said, why did they let Giuliani go on and on so often. He's not close to the front, and he's not interesting to a general public. The moderator should have really done a better job to control this.
To be fair, Giuliani still leads virtually all the national polls. But yeah - part of the format allowed for the candidates to simply go back and forth without a moderator.
Yea I love how they all look at Paul like he is from another planet. I thought it was an entertaining debate. Also, does anyone know if we have had a preacher/minister/priest as a president before?
Didn't the pundits claim that McCain came out the winner? I think he was "posturing" to be above the fray caused by Huckabee attacking Romney.
If looks could kill It sure did look like a couple of times that the Mitster was about to go all Cheney on McCain.
ron paul was excluded from the fox debate, despite registering in double digits and polling higher in iowa than invites like tranny guiliani, so he is having a townhall q&a that will be broadcast on the web. 5pm eastern time - thats 4pm houston time. and... http://blogs.chron.com/txpotomac
I like this Fox debate. Paul would have been a great addition, but the questions really go right at various candidates and the claims they've made about other candidates - good job (at least for the 20 minutes I've seen) by the moderator!
For those who think the focus groups actually represent average voters, here is a picture for you. Do not believe anything that comes from Frank Luntz's mouth. http://roobaroo.net/Images/Fox_Focus_Group.jpg
