Can North Carolina really be considered in the same breath with the Memphis Tigers and I just why aren't the Tigers number 1 in the polls? I mean the tigers toyed with Georgetown, who was supposedly a great team at number 5 until the Tigers suffocated Roy Hibbert, he looked like a boy among men.

I mean not that it matters so much in the end, but the tigers should have been the preseason number 1 and they should not have even given that spot up. As it is, they got number 3 and only moved up do to a loss.

I just think that North Carolina doesn't have a prayer when it comes to the tigers.

that's why there's this thing called the NCAA tournament, the best team will win. Unlike college football.

It means nothing to the North Carolina's of the world. They are always number 1, but for a team like the tigers playing in conference usa, number 1 ranking means more I think.

I might be wrong, but I don't think anybody who has watched the tigers play really thinks that North Carolina can play with them, so why is north carolina number 1 if that's the case.

It doesn't hurt the tigers in terms of the ncaa tournament. That is not the point I am trying to make. All I am saying is that the tigers should be #1 and they are not yet and I doubt they will be unless North Carolina loses. Does it matter in the long run? No. But right is right and the tigers should have that spot, thus I suspect a bias. Tyler freakin hansbougho. Yeah right!

I don't know if it's so much bias against Memphis as it is biased towards UNC. That's just the way polls work in college basketball. As long as both teams remain undefeated, UNC will stay on top.

I agree that Memphis is clearly better. Their lineup and athleticism is something else. I hate to say it but U of H doesn't have a chance to beat them. I haven't looked at the remaining non-conference schedules of the top teams but my bet is Memphis will finish with the best record in the country and be the overall #1 seed in the tournament.

Is this a joke? The best team will NOT always win in basketball in a tournament. There are way too many examples to the contrary.

The bottom line is the championship is settled on the court by a tournament, not by pollsters.

Have they even started conference play yet? What does it matter what the ranking are now? Last season at this time Wichita State was top ten. They finished barely at .500. BC was like 20-0 and ranked 4th a couple of years ago.

Or Clemson last year (started 17-0).

Say what you will about UNC, but "Psycho T" is the real deal. Chances of UNC faltering in conference play compared to Memphis? A good bit higher (even though this is a "weak" year for the ACC when teams like Miami and Florida State have very, very good chances of finishing top-5 in conference).

In the end it won't matter, but at least UNC can be better prepared with tough competition closer to the NCAA Tournament.

Just you wait. Come January 30, Memphis will fall back down to earth when we beat the crap out of them (knock on wood).

Ive never seen that kind of offense win it all. Am I forgetting something? Seems like balance prevails in the NCAA. Thats probably why. College basketball is NOTHING like college football in terms of bias. USC #1? HAHAHAHAH. That was a joke!

The winner of the game between the two teams that are playing the best at that given time in March is settled on the court, I agree with that.

I watched the last 4 minutes of regulation and most of overtime of UNC vs. Clemson. If both teams brought their "A" games, Memphis would beat UNC by 15-20 points. Only Clemson's total choke job in regulation bailed them out.

Question: What is so good about Tyler Hansbrough? The little I saw of him today didn't show me much. Is he supposed to have NBA potential?

The Memphis Tigers is better team than the Tar Heels because they are a more experience team and have lots of depth, but this is why we play the game. We shall see who is better in March.

He isn't stupid with the ball. He takes a lot of high percentage shots and makes them. He's good at steals, but not so much of a shotblocker. Tends to try to play position to varying degrees of success.

He has excellent NBA potential...just don't expect him to be an allstar. I don't expect him to be a creator in the NBA as he might have trouble with more athletic defenders, but he would be ideal for a team with a 7'6 center and a small forward/Shooting guard that can get him easy looks.

    That said....Go Pack!
