Many of those were quality shots for him...... it happens. And at the very least, he played with passion....
Like I keep saying.....Houston fans are idiots...T-Mac deserves to be on a team which the fans will appreciate his talents....Stop leaving stupid posts bashing McGrady......you dont have the knowledge of whats going on to make assumptions
quality?? you call these quality shots?? well, if you consider 16 foot fadeaways from you 7'6 center with Pollard right on him and Garnett helping from the back to be "quality" shots, then yes, the were absolute quality..
Many were 10ft and in jumphooks that he just could not seem to knock down. Some were 15ft away, but he is very proficient in that area most of the time. He had an off night(which I can understand from any player) but atleast he has continued to play hard consistently, Which is all fans can ask....
Tough to shoot 50% when you are double teamed nonstop...but hey, if you want to use the shooting 39% (45% from inside the arc) as a reason to blame him for the Utah loss, go right ahead. Forget the fact that Luther knocked down 26% of his 3's and 30% from the field, or that Rafer shot 34% or that our backcourt and Boozer were nightmare matchups that completely destroyed us. Let's just point out 39% shooting, despite 7 dimes a game and 25 points
Your first line is right on the money..."but hey, if you want to use the shooting 39% (45% from inside the arc)"That is an interesting stat... Maybe Mac should have grown some nuts and attacked the rim a bit more, That was what we were all screaming about on the board at that time, remember? Oh yeah, and how we should trade Luther and Rafer and Yao etc. etc. "I love the short memories here."
Yeah, that's so easy to do when you have an offense centered around a 7'6 big man playing the low post all the time and a PF with no shooting range whatsover (clogged basket). Let's also not forget that the Jazz had a front line of Okur, Boozer and Kirilenko as well as the ability to double off of Chuck Hayes, a player with little to no offensive game. I remember screaming about Boozer abolutely killing us, about Luther disappearing offensively, about Kirilenko actually playing well for the first time that season, about Deron Williams killing Rafer and Luther on the offensive end, Griceck actually playing well, about Yao's inability to guard Okur at the 3 point line, about Rafer bricking the majority of his shots, about being outcoached and not making proper adjustments (tons of JVG criticism). Sorry, don't remember TMac being the guy everyone was calling out. EDIT: I don't think TMac is flawless. He definitely has motivational issues, but blaming him for Utah is about as ridiculous as it gets
Yea there is too much Yao and TMAC bashing. Lets face it the team is not playing in a system that they either don't believe in or the starting lineup is not talented enough to execute. Adelman system worked well in Sacremento with the depth of the starting lineup. The lineup we have has a specialist rebounder and a utility player. The team needs a consistent third scorer, they may need to move their rebound specialists for offense. We are doing ok defensively, but our scoring and points allowed are almost equal, we need to put more points up.
I agree, Its just his his inconsistent attitude that disturbs me, and I think it has negative effects on some of our other younger(or older) players.... Watching KG last night frustrated me because Tracy has that kind of ability...
Yup, seeing Garnett play definitely magnifies TMac's shortcomings. I'm just hoping that he comes back and gels with the team and we start kicking some a$$. I think trading him is a bad idea
How many of those losses were also without Yao? I mean what is our true record, when we are just missing Tmac? DD
That is pretty much it. I remember someone posted the record of the Rockets without T-Mac a couple weeks ago and thats about how bad it was.
Thank you, some of you act as if you're dating McLady. We're have we gone with Mr. Brittle no where. Yes, he is superman, the 13 points in 35 seconds was the most awesome thing I've ever seen in the NBA - hands down. However, watch him now, he only plays D and rebounds when ready. We need him playing every play to win consistently. I refuse to respond to the idiot response. Must be a youngster posting on the board. Forgiveness is devine.
Even with Yao in that stat, so what? Missing 20mil in every NBA team linsup would be a nightmare. 20mil = 3 solid players.
These TOFs are always living in the past. They're living in a time warp and still watching old clips of the Orlando Magic days when Tracey (not a typo) was the ONLY threat on a sorry team. It's a lot easier to get the scoring title on a very bad team and HE STILL QUIT on them. If I'm going to spend good money or watch countless commercials to watch the Rox, I better see EACH PLAYER try their HARDEST. He might have all the talent in the world, but if he doesn't put it to use, he's as good as the scrub on the bench. I think Tracey is Scottie Pippen (Rox version) reincarnated. Total waste...
This is my opinion here: I hate it when people compare last year team with this year.. Seriously its like comparing Apples to Oranges.. Do you think we would of been a better team last year if we had this year players? Hell yeah I think so.. Do you think Yao would of carried the team better last year if he had a squad like this? Yes.. Its like saying common guys T-mac is in a slump and he still can take it to the rack just look at his Orlando days and his first year here in Houston!! It's becoming more of a dream everyday to think T-mac can be the player we envisioned when we got him. Is he a Cancer? Maybe not to that extent (Yet) but you can see that the team has a bit of fire underneath them without T-mac running the damn point and jacking up 35% FG shots.
Single-handedly? That's not the case, man. Motombo and JH stepped up big during that stretch. That's not called single handedly, man. Wake up.
