Oooooh I hate the security at the games! Usually I never move down. I like my seats (7th row up in the upper level). But yesterday there like a hundred empty seats in this one section. Me and my friends decide to move down. Well we are sitting down and this stupid security guard comes up to us and asks to look at our tickets. He then makes a marking on them and tells us that if we move down again we will be evicted from the stadium! Well we go back up to our seats then. Anyone else have this happened to them? Why the hell do they even care if there are like literally a hundred empty seats in that section!

    I had a similar problem, Rockets03!

So, crispee and I are probably the only people left in the world without a DVD player, so I decide to go get one...Well, I'm in Wal Mart, and I pick out a nice, Sony DVD player...top of the line. Well, instead of paying for it at the cash register, I decide to try and walk out of the store with it WITHOUT paying for it. Well, I had just gotten out the first set of doors, when the door attendant asked me for my RECIEPT! Of course, I didn't have one, since I didn't actually pay for the DVD player, so I had to return it...He also threatened to call the cops! Can you believe that?!?!?! Asking me to PAY for something!

    The nerve!

Man, I've always been leary of "moving to better seats" for precisely what happened to 03.

    A-Train,
You have a loose definition of 'similar.'

Damn, 03, you need to look in the mirror before calling someone a "dumbass"

    1) You try to pirate a seat that you didn't pay for
    2) You get caught
    3) You start b****ING about getting caught...

Instead, you should be LUCKY that they didn't throw your cheap ass out of the arena. If you get away with seat pirating, then fine, more power to you, but don't start whining when you don't get your way...

    dumbass...

Seriously ROckets03, how many of you and your friends moved at once? We you guys being loud and obnoxious in the old peoples section across the court from the scorers table?

Dude, it doesn't matter if you aren't the only person that has ever tried to move down...It doesn't matter that there were a bunch of empty seats...Maybe you're the only person dumb enough to get caught...

The fact is, what you were doing is ILLEGAL...Do you know what illegal means? Comprende? Habla Ingles?

My problem is you coming in here and b****ing about getting caught...What did you expect the guy to do, let you off with a warning? This guy's not a cop, Chester...His job is to prevent what you tried to do...If you get away with it, fine, pirate all the seats you want, but you didn't, so there's no need to whine about it...

    Strike two...

That's actually very interesting... I've never once been asked to show my ticket when I move down at games. Actually, at the Sixers game in November, me and 4 friends went to an empty third row lower level, and were never asked about it once. We took up the whole row, and no one seemed to care. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you and your friends made too much noise, and someone behind you complained.

Officer A-Train can you confirm whether or not anyone in the history of the Rockets has been ticketed or arrested for being in someone else's seat?

You know, I don't know if it's "illegal" or not, but I find it amusing that someone would get pissed for being busted doing it. I mean, this is the same guy b****ing about people writing bad checks to him in the BBS Forum.

The trick to Moving Down is carrying yourself with some composure.

Continuing on what the Cat said, if someone is near the floor they have each paid well over a hundred dollars a seat and probably will not be acting like a hooligan, or will not be having the absolute time of their life because they never get those opportunities.

Which is quite sad because acting like that is what makes the games so much fun, instead of a bunch of corporate pencil pushers trying to impress their date.

Dress up nicer, speak in a polished tone and you can get anything you want in life. One time I had second row, center court seats (that were paid for) and was exiting and tried to hop over a barrier to get out quicker and some security guy says to me "Hey "Amigo" you can't do that" then has the audacity to chuckle. I just went up to him and notified him of his position in life in a not so nice manner, conveniently remembered his name and description and called the Rockets office promptly the next day and they obliged me by sending me three floor seats. If I had called up there and said "Hey Yo, this foo disrespeted me" or simply cussed out the security guard nothing would have been accomplished. I simply talked to a representative of the Rockets, and told him that I own a company that routinely buys numerous seats, and that I was slandered by an individual that is supposed to make the games more enjoyable. I also stated that with the lackluster attendance of games the last few years, the last thing they would want to do is alienate anyone! The Rock rep was wonderful though and having second row floor seats at midcourt was a delight.

Many times I have simply walked through security by holding two drinks, I usually wear a sport coat and dress well anywhere I go and try to speak clearly, this actually intimidates people. Try it out Rockets O3, G'Luck!

I was with RocketsO3 when we moved down last nite and no we were not obnoxious or loud nor did we move down that low. We were maybe half way down in the lower level behind the goal where there were entire rows of empty seats. It was only 4 of us. As a matter of fact me and my friends moved down to almost the same section for the Philly and Miami games and had no problem. This time the only thing that might have tipped the security guy off is that we happened to pick a row with 1 guy who came back and said it was his seat and had us move over 1. The guy probably saw this and made his way up to get us out.

Oh well no biggie. Next time we'll do it again and not get caught.

If the Rockets cared about their fans they should do would Charlotte did last nite in telling their fans to move down. Yeah yeah no need to say that there was snow in Charlotte and there were only 1000 fans there. Its the same principle, a lot of empty seats and plenty of fans would want to move.

By the way the Rockets are 1-0 when me, RocketsO3, and Hey Dude(or is it Partner?) try to move down and get caught.

Maybe we should do it every game to get the team in the playoffs.
    Anything for the team!:)

i am a season ticket holder and think seat pirating is okay as long as you follow Montgo's Guide to Seat Piracy (now available at Barnes and Nobles Bookstores). But, if you get caught, do not b**** about it...

Montgo's Guide to Seat Piracy (please review #6 more than once for other season ticket holders sake):

    1) Wait until the beginning of the second quarter to "pirate" a seat.
    2) Be curteous and apoligize for taking someone's seats if they show up, no matter what quarter. However, I dare say that the section ticket holders should chastise anyone that shows up after the first quarter without a valid excuse!
    3) So, you do not cause that much of a disturbance during the game, always be aware of backup seats around you should you get booted from your pirated seat.
    4) Try to remove yourself from the seat before you have to be requested to.
    5) Always wait until a timeout to come into or leave the section.
    6) Make sure you have proper hygiene when you pirate seats. There is nothing worse than sitting next to someone who smells bad or like sour cigarettes and beer or has other issues, no matter a regular ticket holder or a seat pirate. It is marginally worse when someone is sitting next to you that does not own the seat!
    7) Pirates should only root for the home team. Expect to be booted by our crack security if you root for the visiting team in a pirated seat.
    8) Sometimes the crack security guard is new to the job and wants to make a statement. If he/she does, just apologize and move immediately up to the concourse only explaining that you thought it was okay, because it was the second quarter and no one was sitting there, you could barely afford to come to the game and you cannot afford to sit this close normally! They might understand...

Okay we had moved down before the third quarter started. And unless we were really stupid we would not be loud and obnoxious during the halftime.

And Khan, if anyone dresses nicer then me I would sure as hell like to meet him. Like I said, we hadnt said a word, and we were all dressed pretty nicely.

I am not really b****in. I am just trying to find better ways of doing it. I know it was his job to move us and that is why I didnt sit there and curse out the guy or argue with him. The situation is amusing really. Like I said I was just wondering if anyone else had been caught.

Just remember, dress neatly (already mentioned) and dont ever look or apy any attention to the game. Wear a suit and never cheer, talk on your cell phone, tell others to shut up and talk business. then you will be aloowed to sit there.
