A certain amount of sadness came over me tonight before the Rockets game. During a pretty good national anthem when the singer hit the line: "...and the Rockets red glare..." I heard maybe two people give out a yell. I can remember when the whole crowd would let out a holler during that line in the glory days. Even most of this season I'd hear more than I heard tonight. This was the first time that I really noticed the big difference. Heck, I can even remember hearing a lesser yet audible yell at some ASTROS game when that line was sung. Oh well... OS
Back when we had decent uniforms, at least that line made sense. ....but I agree OS. Tonight was the first time I really noticed the difference. ....and I agree RH. It ain't over yet.
Its not being yelled or whistled anymore for now out of respect for the victims of Sept 11th. Give it time its slowly coming back. Anyone see clutch tonight at the game plow into that guy on that little bike?.....what a riot!
I'm not sure if that's quite true...I've heard people yell a lot louder during that line even after 9/11. Tonight just seemed weird that's why I noticed it. And did you see that guy put a dent in Clutch's head after he got up off the ground and kicked him?? I think he was really pissed. OS
Old school I attend every home game have not missed a home game for 4 straight years and I can tell you this, It is true. After the sept 11th tragedy nobody hooted or yelled after that line..NOT ONE....Its slowly coming back I first noticed it coming back two weeks ago....Tonight it was slight as well. matter of fact the Game against the Bucks it was slightly louder than usual and then the Lakers game it was down to a medium again. I am never late and have seen Every National Anthem this year. I did notice him kick clutch and then power drive drive him as well so Clutch got his too But that padding on that suit was merely a love tap for that big ole guy on that bike his ego was mre bruised than his body.
Ditto on TroyBaros...I missed 2 games this year and since 9/11...everyone is stopping in the concourse, not talking, not eating and there seems to be more solence in the crowd than ever before. It was fading somewhat, but you always had the few loud ooooohaaaaasss loyalists!....I think it is kinda cool....you know the patriotic thing...I do like the Yell during the anthem, but also respect the silence too......
