Seriously, is Yao the most known Chinese in States?

Is there any chance that some Americans know Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan but never heard of Yao?

Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan is old school, besides people in entertainment industry probably are not propriate to be a signal of a nation ;)

I would say most of the American public knows "of" Yao Ming merely from his commercials. That's how I knew about him before I followed NBA basketball.

Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Yao Ming....after those three I'm not sure anybody else, Mao maybe? I doubt many in the US even knows who is the chairman or president of China.

Maybe that guy from American idol?

Or YI, he looks more promising than Yao, only 19, or 23, who knows.
