Seriously, to "raise above bad officiating" when what this bad officiating brings is two shadows ruthlessly hugging you in the whole game is a superhero task. I don't care how big Yao is but just imagine if in a game a 10-year old boy is allowed to two-hand you whenever you shoot, your FG% will drop substantially. A true star may do that once in a while, but don't expect anybody better than that. Also bad officiating vs a big center is different from bad officiating vs a guard.
At KG's level, he doesn't really need to claim somebody as "the best" to please anybody anymore if he truly thinks that guy is just a big stiff. There is a reason the first task in every Rox opponent's gameplan is to neutralize Yao.
March 30th 2007 against the Lakers. I win. Just get it into your head that Yao is a softee and will never be a elite NBA player. He will continue to be good but never great. He will put up 20 an 10 for the next ten years and will likely make it to the HOF (if not off numbers off the fact that he is a very talented international player) but he will never lead us to the finals. He may one day be a part of a championship team with Houston. But he will never lead. Never. They say never say never. I am freaking saying never. So before you tell me to get educated again (I am stil ltrying to figure out what I am lacking in knowledge when it is clearly in front of us that we are standing in quicksand as a team) I think you need to take off your Yao jersey for a moment, open your eyes, and see what we all have been seeing for the past 5 seasons... Yao is good, he is not great. He can not lead an NBA team to the finals and without a leader (not an elite superstar) but a true leader the Rockets will continue to flounder in the west.
how about you block more then 3 shots and grab more then 13 rebounds because you're the tallest player in the league? are you 12 dude? anyways... this game aside yao gets blasted by the nba night after night. and while it's always easy to say he SHOULD be doing more, and he definitely does have problems to fix, he competes hard to get what he has in spite of it. if yao was refereed as fairly as anyone else he'd probably get the 28 and 13 guys like you are looking for.
Definitely, Yao is trying his best to overcome bad officiating and unfair rule changes. But these issues are here to stay. They won't be changed - not even if every single person in Houston and in China complains about them. So, the bottom line is, can we win a championship with a center that is being "phased out" by the NBA?
What is the point of having a big man who can't play like a big man? Yao is slow, but the trade off is his height and power. Which are not even an asset for him because he is not a spectacular defender or rebounder. He is a good rebounder due to his height alone. Deke is tall but works for every rebound he gets. He gets the ones that don't come to him. Yao rarely gets a board that eh has to work for. Yao is to big to get manhandled by players like Najarra. I am still pissed from that DEN game where Yao got shut down by someone so much smaller than him. It is the kind of defensive tenacity that Najarra used on Yao that Yao needs himself. I mean I love Yao. I may seem like I hate him today but I really love him. I just wish... man my list is so long. I just wish... I just wish yao was better at one aspect of his game. Any of them. Defence, rebounding, shot blocking, passing anything. Just one. I sense no one agrees with me so I am going to go to another thread and see what is up over there.
man, i opened your link and all i saw was yao had a 17-21 ft night. you think that's proof he's whistled fairly that night? i happen to have many of the rockets game videos in last 15 or so years incl. this one. you think you "win"? lol. if you're so competitive and want to "win" so much, i am gonna let you. so you win! happy now? but your post is still full of it. you just stated yao is this and isn't that, or will be this or won't be that. logic 101 - you need to put reasoning in it when expressing your opinions; or you need to state "i just simply believe it" and no one can blame you for your belief (even w/o reasons). you get that? lol.
Yao didn't have a foul until the 3rd quarter and two Celtics' big men fouled out of the game in early to mid 4th quarter. How is that not fair? I've seen games where opposing centers hacked the crap out of Yao and the refs didn't blow a single whistle. Refs can't be right 100% of the time but when they called 12 fouls on Yao's primary defenders that is a sign of being fair.
Well just ignore that troll........ Just check the posts of this troll. 20/21 of his total posts were about this irrational and stupid idea of trading away Big Yao. And 17 of them posted just today. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/search.php?searchid=81721
are you really so simple-minded or you're pretending and just arguing for the sake of arguing? calling ONLY 12 fouls (and 10 in fact - perkins's other 2 were not on yao if you really watched the game tonight) out of god knows how many more is NOT fair; calling 4 fouls on yao where at least 2 were bogus is NOT fair. that referees can't be perfect is part of the reason why it is not so fair; but the ref's incompetence by itself does NOT change the fact that the officiating on yao has been terrible and NOT fair. which bit of the above you can't understand?
Can someone post a GIF of Yao dunking on Kevin Garnett's head tonight? It was shown on ESPN highlight when Yao posterized Kevin Garnett. Kevin Garnett jumped a lil and then realized he couldn't block it. So he didn't want to look like he got dunked on and he turned away, ducked his head while Yao flushed it on his head. It was too late, Yao already posterized Kevin Garnett. Plays like that kinda bugs people because they got no heart. Kevin Garnett, you got dunked on! Stop trying to act like you didn't by running away. Yao DUNKED on YOU!
There's nothing wrong with admitting that KG usually plays better than Yao when they go head to head - it just sucks for us. KG overall is a better basketball player than Yao. Certain players give other players a fit and KG does that to Yao. Look at how Yao dominates Kaman everytime they play. Don't mean to sound cliche, but it is what it is. Scola did a decent job on KG...I would've had him guard Garnett down the stretch.
I don't have that GIF yet..... But here is that still photo of Big Yao ferociously giving KG that facial !!
Stop blaming the refs on this game. This is almost the best you can get when it comes to officiating Yao: 2 opposing center fouled out with 8 mins left in the game. When was the last time this happened? If you didn't like how the refs officiated today's game you might as well stop watching any NBA games with Yao.
