The first video was nuts. They need to implement that in games ASAP.

wow, the future looks bright. i wonder when, and if these things will start to take shape in games.

it would be great if next gen (after 360, PS3, and to an extent the Wii) would focus more on these things to make a more true gaming experience.

Basically the guy is using the concept of the Wii's motion bar (two infrared light sources) and the Wii controller (infrared light camera) and applying it in other ways.

His ideas consist of using the Wii controller, syncing it to a computer and making ad-hoc infrared light sources in order to create different visual points of view, an interactive white board, and a finger control system a la "Minority Report" (bland description for some pretty cool concepts).

I think the ideas he could take games to another level - defintely worth checking out.

oomp, thank you for introducing me to my new nerd hero.

This is really cool and the cheap digital whiteboard I will use for
    instruction next year for sure.

Dude, while the finger tracking and white board ideas are neat, the head tracking to add perspective to games could potentially make FPSs 100x better. The ability to be able to actually duck around a corner to snipe a bad guy instead of hitting a button to do it could make for some neat multiplayer experiences. This might be the next big leap forward in FPS gaming. Or puzzle gaming, for that matter.

It would only be cooler if Tom Cruise showed us how it worked.

How much of this concept and technology does Nintendo own by patent? The potential revenue stream for them could be off the charts.

ok that is pretty insane and the fact that you don't need any new extra technologies is mind baffling. Seriuosly though they need to create a FPS game with this perspective lol... I love it.

On a related note- Does anyone else get the motion sickness headache playing FPS games on the Wii? I got Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for Christmas and it's giving me a headache every time I play. I don't have this problem playing MOH on the computer and I don't get headache from any of the other Wii games.

Any suggestions? Anybody come up with a way to deal with this other than not play the game anymore?

Just looking at that first demo started to give me a headache.

pretty sweet. Although I was really hoping the future of gaming would be more buttons crammed onto a controller.

This head tracking idea can make the flight simulator more realistic to train pilots.

I think Sony could probably use the PS3 Eye in a similar fashion.
