yeah there were some bad calls on both sides, but doesn't change the fact that he had 4 turnovers on the touches he had which further limited his effectiveness. Even if 2 of those turn overs were undeserved, they still happened.

But you put like is his fault. You can't beat the refs so far they have always won.

Yao cant move. We need to stop posting him far out or even fighting for air at the high post. Deep catch for Yao. JVG's moto.

did yao fumble any passes today? didn't see any

not sure where this "yao has bad hands" notion comes from, everyone fumbles some passes and a lot of times the passes are not good

One thing that impressed me in the first half was the offense of Hayes. He was making layups and making some great no look passes. I was like    . Is that Hayes? Unfortunately, he didn't continued the way he did in the first half. :( :( :(

Doesn't really matter if it is his fault or not. Yao get's a few of those bad calls almost every game. The refs had some bad calls tonight, but they made bad calls vs both teams so it more or less evened out. We certainly didn't lose because of the refs.

you are just saying the "politically correct" stuff. true, bad calls both ways and sure didn't cost us the game. but yao was the only one whose rhythm was interrupted because of foul troubles. given his significance to the game and to both teams, i'd say we suffered from the bad officiating a lot more than our opponents. imagine baron had 4 fouls and had to sit...

and the officiating on yao has gotten worse imo. you don't even have to dig. just look at the pics posted by pryuen after each game - a lot of pics clearly show a foul on yao and i don't think all of them are called.

Yao catches most passes that hit him in the hands.

The problem is that most of the time when he got deep position he was fronted, and he is not very good at catching lob passes. They have to be high enough to get over the fronting man when he jumps, but can't be more than a foot or so from Yao's hand when he posts up or he can't jump or move to get them or they are intercepted by the weak side help. Then when he does catch a lob he is often stripped or in a bad position because of the double team consisting of the front and weak side help. His lack of mobility and jumping ability is a major issue when trying to catch lob passes.

Yao hasn't dominated any GS game since Nelson started fronting him every possesion last season. As for the effect of fouls on the other team, Steven Jackson did have to sit with 3 fouls about the same time Yao did. In fact both Jackson and Harrington ended the game with 5 fouls, compared to Yao's 4. Certainly it isn't Yao's fault that he gets bad calls, Shaq had the same issue as a big man. But it is something that is unlikely to change, and at the end of the game if we lose by 17, then it was probably alot more than bad calls that got us to that point.

Yao's big problem is that after he catches the ball he brings it down low instead of just shooting immediately.

There's another problem with throwing a pass that can beat a fronting defense though: it's hard to do, and I don't think Alston is up to it.

I doubt Rafer would have problems giving lob pass to a more mobile big man like Hakeem, Shaq in his prime, Josh Howard, Tim Duncan, ect... If it takes Jason Kidd or Steve Nash to get the lob pass just right it probably has more to do with the guy catching the ball.

There's two problems. The rest of the Rockets aren't doing a good job of getting Yao the ball. And Yao isn't doing a good job of clearing out.

Yao was tired ,Yao had no energy,Yao didn't have the energy to be the Target that he normally is in the post. It wasn't nothing taht teh defense did it was taht Yao didn't have any energy. From the first posessions of the game you could see he was still tired from the last game and the game before that. The increased minutes are starting to take a toll on him.

wow...didn't see the game, but looking at the box score, the 4th quarter was freakin brutal. How do you get outscored by 22 points in the 4th?

It's a loss but it's a good game for us to learn. We're getting better and this game was lost because of a poorly executed, "tired" and with ill Yao. Adelman will come up with something in 4th for the next meet. The good thing about this game is we see a reasonably good game from Novak. If he improves on his 3pts arsenal and game, we've got another long range artillery weapon. So with this game, I'll contemplating a Hayes, Scola and Novak in PF with Scola occasionally playing centre or Noval at SF.

We need to build an range of offensive threat to improve our versatility. Novak, Battier, Head and maybe TMac too will be our sharpshooters. Tmac,
Alston, AB would be our playmaker or distributors. Our paint/cutting guys would be Yao, Scola, Bonzi, Synder.

Berkman+Oswalt > Yao+T-mac... with the playoff success to prove it.
