Teammates need to be patient, and so does Yao. Yao is trying to carry the load, but he gotta recognize his weakness. Even if he catches the ball that far out, he wouldnt be able to score efficiently. Whenever he catches the ball, they just blitz him resulting a TO. I dont think Yao made even one FG at low post, all of his points coming from FT, putbacks, and moving catching down low. The best stretch to me was the begining of the 3rd, Yao defended well in the middle and teammates scored off of him as a decoy. Yao's 4th foul was a momentum killer. He was just about to be open offensively.

Exactly! Apparently that's the main cause of our rout in the 4th quarter

To beat the warriors and suns,You have to make a mental effort to defend the three point line and that means your rotations have to be tight.Bonzi wells doesn't care about defnse or defending the three pointer and he hurt us with his lack of detail preperation in defending the three,He and Yao ming.

I dont get it, you keep saying that Yao had no energy out there but I saw a total different Yao on the court, He was contesting Harpring's every single 3 pointer, He ran the court up and down, he defended the paint.

Are you saying that because we lost?
    Ok, no problem.

    Harpring, or Harrington?

Look it is not hard to contest a shot, just be up ON the guy when he receives the pass, don't have to make a rush to guard him...be there already.

Yes we did. And we tried hard.
The thing is Warriors controled the tempo and ran us to death.

terrible play in the 4th quarter, it looked like the team had already done enough in the first 3 quarters and like they had already won...and then all those 3's started going in for the warriors, and then it was game over. but I don't know, I just have a feeling that the team will be able to bring their game and put up a good effort in boston and orlando....(well at least i hope they will)

We should try to send Yao to LA for AB. If Lakers doesn't want him, just waive him, saving a substantial amount of cash.

Dude Yao's body language was that of a tired man, rick should have rested Yao becasue they were going small and our small lineup was doing a good job agains them.We got into our offesne quicker and we didn't waste time trying get him the ball,We had a better flow.

Yao is a hard worker so even if he is tired he will run until he falls out but he was obviously tired out there.

Are you sayint you've expected Yao Ming to defend 3-point line? Comon, Man, tell me you are joking.

Bonzi was lack of that, maybe. I do think Rick hold the main responsibility in the 4th quartor when we were are not defending the 3-point line... :(

The thing about fronting is that most teams do not have the right players to successfully front Yao; the only teams I can think of at the moment are GS, Phoenix, maybe Toronto, and maybe Boston (w/ KG?). To really front Yao, you need a lanky but quick SF/PF/C who strong enough to compete for position and you also need complementary players who are lanky and athletic enough to annoy and strip Yao when he gets the ball via lobs and missed coverage. The best strategies I can think of for solving this fronting tactic are:

    1) Lobs: Have Yao fully behind the defender and clear out the back; if the opposing team cheats and takes another defender from the opposite side, swing the ball quickly to other side and then have yao (while sealing his guy off) flash to the opposite block. Otherwise, if they dont cheat (which would be really stupid of them), then lob it high.

    2) Penetration: Have the PF or wtv pick and roll with Alston/TMac, or whoever. Alston did a good job getting to the rim and I feel that he can do more of that. However, pick and roll to the side where yao is, resulting in help defense from Yao's defender. The penetrator could then do drop off passes and yao can attack the rim/get fouled.

adleman definately lost this game. yao was totally ineffective against their defense and throughout the whole game the rox tried to force it to him. the time that they played without him, they took the lead. i know yao is the star of the team and he is our best player, but if it's not working you have to go with what is working. terrible coaching.

This team always let me down, this team has no future.
We have a 20m soft superstar, we have a head coach who can't make any adjustment when things don't go well, we can't pass the 1st round playoffs this season, we may even not make the playoffs at all.
So sad, but I will always love this team and watch them play games.
It's time to make some changes.

We lost the game because we played three quarters and didn't have the energy to finish in the fourth. A lineup of energy would have done the job for us.
