I just like the irony of an anti-horn troll like myself starting the game thread for this one. Erickson will have Arizona State ready to roll, if the Horns are equally motivated it should be a good one. If the Horns come out a little flat, this could be over early. Vegas thinks it will be the UT by 2.5. I am gonna do out on a limb and say ASU by 10.
This will be an ass-kicking of epic proportions. Rudy Carpenter will throw for 400+ yards on our piece of ***** secondary. Our decrepit LB unit of Killebrew/Derry/Bobino will combine for 0 tackles, and Cart McCry will throw 3 to 4 INTs. The good news is that this ass-raping will be the catalyst for coaching changes on the defensive side of the ball. ASU 45 TEX 24
Texas 42 ASU 21 I just get the feeling that UT will come out on fire and will get an early lead. The old LB's might get a chance to start, but you'll see Kindle in there early and often. If the pass defense can just suck a little less than they have for most of the season, it should be a fairly easy win. That said, this is Texas in 2007. Anything is possible.
I'll be shocked if Killebrew, Derry, and Bobino start. Mack said he would make changes and that no starter's job was safe. I seriously hope that wasn't lip service.
Austin sports radio has been saying lately that, while it wasn't entirely just lip service, it's looking like no major changes to the starting lineup.
ASU is a joke. And Y'all yelled at me when I called both Mizzou and Kansas jokes. (probably still will)
Speaking of Texas/recruiting, can anyone give me a synopsis of what's going on with recruiting this year? I used to keep up with it pretty well, but have not recently. Why are the three best players in TX committed to OU?
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;...cuscore-ncaaf200712270083&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Looks like they think Charles could swing it for UT, but if he doesn't perform then UT chance of winning is low. Their simulations may not have grasped how weak our secondary is. Yet if Charles performs and we pick off a couple, that might be enough.
We stopped recruiting the top RB in Texas (Calhoun) because he had major grade issues. Pretty unfortunate since he was supposedly a big Texas lean. Both Good and Washington committed to OU almost right away, we really didn't have a chance. We're young and have some depth at both OL and DE so maybe they thought they could play earlier at OU vs. UT. This has been a pretty disappointing recruiting class this season IMO, but we still picked up a lot of really good talent (Williams-CB, Hales-WR, Humphrey-DT).
psshaw. Texas is going to walk this game, unless Arizona State does something bizarre and unexpected like throw a forward pass or blitz.
