When he first came into the league everyone thought he was going to be the Grizz' franchise player and the next great center.

Although his contract is two years shorter, Reeves makes twice as much as Cato. I'd rather have Cato, at least he is playing this year.

I'm not proposing to acquire Reeves for Cato; I'm just wondering if this is an opportunity to dump Cato.

I wouldn't mind if we had a replacement 5, but I'm in no rush to dump Cato. He's disappointing but he's not that bad. Fair to say that he is serviceable but has never lived up to his potential-- unless you count that one preseason game.

with Reeves out and Lorenzen Wright also injured the Grizzlies might be interested in Cato. Issac Austin makes almost as much as Cato but his contract is up at the end of this year so that would be a good straight up trade if you want to get Cato off the Rockets cap.

Their injury exception would also help balance out Cato's contract? Or am I wrong on that?

Trust me, the Grizz would still not want any part with Cato.

They would only need him right now, with Wright out.

Wright should be returning somewhat soon.

Next year, Cato would be their #3 center, assuming they don't trade Big ****.

The Grizzlies aren't contenders or anything, so they aren't as "desperate" to get a center as you think they are.

If the Grizz were making a run for the playoffs, then maybe they would consider Cato.
