Yesterday -Saturday I talked to the maternal uncle of Kendrick Perkins. Perkins is the 17 year old 11th grader at Beaumont Ozen. Perkins is 6' 11" and 285 lb. His uncle said that physical tests of his bone structure indicate he could grow another 2". I said I wished the Rockets could draft him in the 2003 draft-but it would be hard because he would be a # 1 or # 2 pick.

I wish we could get this young player-he comes from a very nice family. If anyone needs tools in Beaumont, Kendrick's uncle sells Craftsman tools at Parkdale mall in Sears-he is a nice guy.

Has he already said that he is coming straight out of high school into the league?

Yes - his uncle says he plans to declare for the 2003 draft. He would like to stay in Texas.

Good luck (seriously). When's the last time Rudy and CD drafted a high schooler?

How is Perkins? Care to describe his game?

I will view the big man tommorow at the Campbell Center for a kickass national tourney. I will be sure to report what I see.

From what I hear, he has a nice jump shot.

Well, it turns out I woke up a little late, and only caught Perkins in the 2nd half of his game.

I was not impressed with the guy at all. He might have gotten maybe 6 points and a couple rebounds when I saw him.

Granted, the competition is tough in that game, but he was still the biggest guy on the court, and it seemed like he was invisible.

Maybe part of it was because both teams looked to push up the tempo.

The player I was most impressed with is fellow Jr. Ndudi Ebi of Westbury Christian. The kid is Kevin Garnett. He can hit 3s, dribble, and pass. His athleticism is quite great for his size.
