You are absolutely right. He will get a chance somewhere at some point. It would be worth the effort to see if there is a reasonable trade we can make to get him.
By Feb 14 Novak and Snyder probably will still not have done anything. If they take Snyder & Novak for Herrmann at that point I'm all for it. Like they said, Herrmann for the Bobcats late last season literally was what Adam Morrison was supposed to be for them. I'll take a skinnier, slower more earth bound player who runs the floor and hits shots over Snyder's "potential".
Gerald Green's BB IQ makes Kirk Snyder look like John stockton. Seriously the kid has NO idea how to play basketball. He can shoot and he can jump, but he cannot play basketball.
You are assuming that there's a team in the league that considers Mike James servicable. If both he and Francis continue to shoot like they have and play as bad as they have demonstrated this season, they both will not be in the league very long. I hope something lights a fire under both of them to play at that All-Star level they are both capable of playing.
Why would Minnesota do that? They are rebuilding. Gerald Green is very young with a whole lot of potential. That's exactly the kind of player you want on your team when you're rebuilding. See the Portland Trailblazers with guys like Martell Webster and Travis Outlaw. Luther Head, to the contrary, may still improve, but we know his ceiling. He's a solid player and it would make sense if a good team who needed shooting at a guard position wanted Head, but why in the hell would Minnesota want him?
I love these Argentine players. Sign him, so we can see Wálter Herrmann and Luis biatching on the bench.
Why not both Hermann and Green? Both are unrestricted FAs at the end of the year. I'd like to get both of them so that we have an advantage in a bidding war. Detroit really has little incentive for trading Hermann because his $2M drops off the books at the end of the year. Ditto for Minnesota with Green, whose $1.5M drops off the books. We have several $1M to $2.5M players but only a few whose contracts expire. Of those, I feel we should keep Bonzi. Snyder and SF3 are do-able, but no one wants Hayes even at his contract size. Unfortunately, I don't think Morey has the experience and savvy to get one of these deals done. I fear that he would drop our drawers like in the Rudy Gay trade.
Walter can help with shooting, and some rebounding. I feel he would be a defensive liability but I wouldn't mind him on the Rockets. We will have to see if the Pistons are going to use him.
i'm not sure on it but i think he can be traded on his ownl but there's a two month wait if he needs to be packaged
That sounds right about not being part of a multi player package for a specified time, but he could be traded immediately as a singular entity.
I remember Hermann playing for the Bobcats last year. He would definately "fit" with our team. i just dont know if a package of Mike James and Steve Novak will get it done. BTW- I have no clue what the salary cap match would like. Would this even work?
