I can do guitar and bass REALLY well on medium and half-assed on hard. Depends on the song. Drums are hard to expert depending on teh song as well. Full disclaimer, I graduated with a degree in percussion so I'm a decent drum set player (not saying I'm great, but I have 15+ years of playing experience so it helps) -- the biggest problem I have on drums is that I get confused that one of those pads can be a tom, cymbal and a snare all within one measure. I think so. I got tired of playing OK Go's "Here It Goes Again" and the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" (we played them EASILY 15 times the first night) that I just did a solo tour and knocked out all of the songs. Just do it on medium and it should only take you 2-3 hours. It's worth it, trust me. What's everyone's favorite songs to play on there? I'm a HUGE Police fan so I downloaded the Police pack. "Next To You" and "Syncronicity II" are a blast.
Add me to the list of people with defective strum bars. It happened on Monday. I noticed I was missing a lot of notes that I knew I hit and sure enough it wasn't working. The good thing is I immediately contacted EA and the replacement guitar is supposed to be here tomorrow. As for my level, I'm a medium guy on just about everything. I can do some hard on vocals and guitar on the easier songs, but I'm mostly medium. I find medium very challenging on drums. I'm usually in the 80's where I'm in the 90's in just about everything else. My favorite songs are "Won't Get Fooled Again", “Tom Sawyer”, "Foreplay/Long Time", and "Sabotage" is a lot of fun, especially on vocals.
I was excited about Sabotage on GH3...but that song ended up being no fun at all to play on guitar. But I know I will love doing the vocals for it on RB.
i play the guitar on hard. as for drums, i started on medium but i found myself wanting to hit beats that i could hear but weren't represented on the screen. so now i do expert on the first half of the songs then hard once it gets to the foreplay/longtime, enter sandman, tom sawyer grouping. even on hard i struggle during sections of those songs. won't get fooled again is just ridiculous on hard. my strategy to get up to hard/expert was to just do practice mode and not hit the bass pedal at all until i could completely nail all the pads. once i have that down i incorporate the bass pedal and keep working on it. this causes my mind to slow the whole song down and thus it's much easier. i'm not delusional into thinking i could play real drums but this is fun enough to make me want to try the real thing sometime. my favorites are black hole sun, vasoline, and foreplay/longtime.
When the game came out, I kept hearing reviewers and people that make the game saying "This game will make people into drummers." I laughed, but I'll be damned if they weren't right. I could see someone learning to play drums because of this game.
I'm so upset... I was with my wife out of town and saw Rock Band at Target out in California before Thanksgiving. I asked her "Should we get it now or wait til we get home back to Texas?" We decided to wait til we got back from our Cali trip but now can't seem to find it anywhere. We were worried that if we bought it and tried to pack it in our luggage that the guitar might be broken or one of the drums. My wife just went to Target, Walmart, Sam's with no luck! Any suggestions to find it?
Not sure what part of town you're in and for what console you're looking for but the Walmart in Pearland on 518 and 288 had a lot of units the last time I was there. You may want to give'em a call first just in case.
OMFG...Santa clause came early and we started playing tonight...This game is sooooooo much fun...I'm so glad I picked this up...We just did the tutorials and a quickplay on the band and man, it f'n rocked... I can't wait to play it tomorrow...
i live in sugarland, tx. do you guys have any suggestions on where they might have rock band in stock?
I have it on PS3 and I noticed there are songs missing from my playlist that it showed should be available. Do they have to be unlocked or something? Please help
I was hoping to find the chile pepers and sound garden. I seems I only have about 13 songs to play. Now when I went to on-line playing I saw more songs but I want those on local because that enter sandman is Really hard.
Yeah, you have to do the career mode to unlock the songs. When I first got it, I just beat the game on solo guitar mode on medium and unlocked all the songs.
Dude. After month or more of this game sitting in my trunk, Christmas finally came and we got to open it. We opened it Christmas Eve because my wife and I couldn't wait. We ended up playing the game for like 5-6 hours and finally collapsed around 2 am. Good times. The best part was early in when my 10 year old (he was the one the present was FOR) was struggling terribly on In Bloom on the vocals. In order to avoid us failing and losing more fans, his mom rips the mic from his hand and proceeds to finish the song. After about 20 minutes of him crying, we got him calmed down enough to keep playing. Just like a real band. AWESOME. I'm trying to decide on DLC I want. The Metallica pack is a definite, and I think I'm going to download the David Bowie stuff as well. Outside of that, I'm not sure. Also, no problems with any equipment yet. Don't know how long that will last. I find the guitar playing kind of logy. The difficulty in this game is nothing compared to GH3, but the solos and sections that really cook I find myself being unable to keep up because it just feels weird playing fast on this guitar. I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough. I've been sticking to Hard difficulty for now. Probably move up to Expert soon enough.
Dammit I want to play this game, but I don't have a PS3, 360, or the money to buy either of them. Especially considering I'd obviously then have to buy Rock Band itself. That's $550+ and it's going to be a while (new job or tax return?) before I can spend that kind of green. If anyone ever needs someone to fill in for a jam session, let me know. My existence is meaningless until then
