Everybody keeps asking for it so here is one for the Holidaze. T-Mc to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal and a second rounder. Salaries and years match. Shane Battier to Sacramento; Ron Artest to Miami + King's first rounder lottery protected; Ricky Davis to the Rockets.
Personally, I wouldn't trade Shane for Ricky straight up. Artest > Shane.. why would the Kings throw in the first round pick to get Shane? Miami is the only real winner here.. EDIT: Indiana needs to give up more IMO. I was thinking Granger, but I'm sure we'd have to send some more back to them for that.
if i was going to be invloved in a trade with sacremento...i would want artest not ricky davis...and jermaine oneal is more injury proned than tmac is...we have nothing to gain from either of these trades...but saying that i would LOVE to have Artest as a rocket...he is the exact player the rockets need. someone thats tough, can hit an open 3, drive to the hoop, draw fouls, and gives you superb defense every time out, and he is already familiar with RA system...if battier and a 1st rounder would do the job im all for it..he is what the rockets need to get to the next level and gives you a better Defensive presence than shane even tho thats shane's strength PLUS the added dimensons of a legitimate 3rd scorer the Rocks desperately need to win at this level. We cant win without Tmac but man if we had Ron Ron that would help is so much...
The Kings fear losing Artest at the end of the season with nothing to show for it. Artest would replace Davis, who fits the Adelman system far better than Battier. Battier is a solid citizen who has a reasonable contract for some years. Both JO and T-Mc need a change. IMO Jermaine gives Yao a lot of breathing space and is a quick PF with range. He and Scola would make an effective combination with Yao Ming. Yao / O'Neal / R-Davis / Bonzi / Brooks. Speed, power and shooting.
I don't like O'Neal. Any 7fter shooting sub 45% raises eyebrows. But I do think him and Yao could work together. Feed off each other. It could work, might be a devastating combo. Both have range, O'Neal brings the speed and agility Yao lacks. But this offense would not suit that team.
You're probably right, but it's fun to speculate in a random trade thread. One small trade that IMO would make a huge difference -- trade for Gerald Green of Minnesota now. He is an unrestricted FA at the end of the season, so the Timberwolves might let him go for a draft choice or a $1.5M player. Green would come in out of the cold (he's from Dallas) and would give us shooting, speed, height, youth and potential -- something we traded away for Shane Battier.
I don't want to trade Tmac b/c we won't get value in return. J. Oneal is not very good and Artest is crazy and Sac won't trade with us anyway. I do like speculating trades, though, and would be interested to see who we could get for Battier/James/Francis/Snyder etc. If we do trade Batty, then we need to get a SF who can play great D b/c Batty's D really does bail us out (by keeping Tmac from having to guard the other team's best G or SF). SO, who could we really get for Batty? Some say T.Outlaw and J.Jack. I'd consider it if that trade were still on the table (though it's prob not now that Portland is playing so well).
If only Morey could put a spell on the Philly's GM http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...0~10~10~10~10~4~4~10~10~20~4~4~4~20&te=&cash= Houston Lineup: PG: Andre Miller Rafer Alston Aaron Brooks SG: Ben Gordon Steve Francis Mike James SF: Bonzi Wells Kyle Korver Thabo Sefolosha PF: Andres Nocioni Joe Smith Luis Scola C: Yao Ming Luis Scola Dikembe Mutombo If Morey somehow got Chicago and Philly to do it, Ill be one happy camper
Just a horrible trade. Jermaine O'Neal has lost a lot more than McGrady, is injury proned and has opened up a bigger can of quit than anybody in the league. *Then* you trade Shane Battier for Ricky Davis?! I thought this was the worst trade idea I've seen until Rocket River decided he wants Ron Artest for McGrady. You people are a trip.
I said it before, and I'll say it again..... McGrady Battier Mike James for Jason Kidd Richard Jefferson
Trade anyone not name Yao for Kobe Bryant. Then just get anyone who can play some D and hits the open J.
Just to add on: McGrady Hayes Snyder FOR Deng Tyrus Thomas Ben Wallace --------------- Deng is the young and upcoming SF to replace McGrady. McGrady is one of the best decision makers in the game - but he needs the ball for that. Adelman's offense is movement, not one-on-one creation. Tyrus Thomas replaces Hayes to give us a Thomas/Scola PF rotation. I would start Thomas for his athleticism, fire, and offense. He would add a major spark to our team on both ends of the floor. Wallace is included just because Chicago wants to dump him and he helps match salary. He could spell Yao or the PF spot when needed. Houston does this trade because it gets significant pieces to be a championship contender, without having to completely rebuild. Deng and Thomas in Adelman's offense would be more effective than McGrady and Hayes, IMO. Chicago does it because they flat out suck. They almost traded these pieces plus more for Kobe, so removing a piece (Gordon) should get it done I think. They don't want anything to do with Wallace's contract, Deng refused to sign an extension, and they get the All-Star guard they were looking for by going after Kobe. They'll have Hinrich, Gordon, and Tmac - possibly the top 3 guards in the league.
Although we have little need for another PG i'd love to see what it would take to get Marcus Williams from NJ since his value has to be pretty low. He still has the potential to be an elite PG, IMO.
And plus, Yao to Lakers for Kobe. So Rockets can have Jermaine O'Neal + Kobe + Ricky Davis, that would be a championship team.
An idea that I came up with for fun: Battier/Head/Snyder for Chris Wilcox/Damien Wilkins/Delonte West Remember over the summer there was the rumored Battier/Wilcox swap? This idea just builds on that. Wilcox has been unhappy with his role in Seattle and would give us legitimate inside scorer to take pressure off of Yao. He's huge (6'10", 235 lbs) and extremely athletic. Runs the floor well and is a solid post defender. Hopefully, in addition to the bolstered interior scoring he could also challenge and slow down the Boozer's and Duncan's of the world. Another added bonus is his ability to play minutes at center. Wilkins is very underrated and is basically Battier-lite. Delonte West is sort of like a poor man's Mobley. Decent combo guard, solid shooter and nice defensive skills. For Seattle, Battier's veteran presence would undoubtedly help the development of Durant and Green. Head and Snyder are nice young pieces as well. If Seattle was interested in a Battier for Wilcox swap before, would Head/Snyder for Wilkins/West be enough for them to complete the deal? I guess that becomes the big question.
