    I am officially pumped.

Nice snowfall in the high country last night... good thick, wet stuff that makes a good base. Mt. Ashland will open tomorrow after adding 18 inches over the last 24 hours... Mrs. rimrocker and I will take the kids 2-3 times during the next two weeks. Can't wait to try my new parabolic skis.

Every Wednesday, I'll take off from work at noon and head to the school to be a Ski Chaperone for my 4th graders' class... they get half the day off and bus transport to the mountain where they can ski/snowboard for 4 hours, get a meal, and get an hour's classroom time on mountain ecology, ski safety, etc.

At some point this season, we'll also hit Mt. Shasta, which is 90 minutes south of here.

Man, it feels good to be living near ski areas again. I love it when the valleys are dry and the mountains are white.

Anyone else headed to the slopes this year?

I envy you. I'm not going to make it to the slopes until spring break. (unless I don't take classes this spring....which I believe I am going to before I transfer this fall).

I wanna snowboard again so badly, I miss living in Switzerland. Only been boarding 1 time since here in the US. NM 2 years ago.

I grew up in Denver, so I've been skiing since I was 4 - Can't imagine switching to a snowboard.

    My favorite places to ski:

    1. Beaver Creek
    2. Copper Mountain
    3. Steamboat
    4. Vail
    5. Winter Park

While it's not the high peaks of the west coast, the wife and I will be heading for the northern peaks of the Catskill Mountains (and our little ski lodge on Bald Mountain) this afternoon. We'll be there until Thursday of next week!

Ah... 6 days of winter wonderland!

Neither of us ski, but we do like the snowshoeing, sledding and skating.

Windham got 18" of snow last weekend and the mountain has a base of 12 to 55"

    We'll be on the road today @ 5PM w00t!

A screen capture of Windham's webcam this morning.

    1. Durango (Always a soft spot for where I learned)
    2. Snowmass (Perhaps the best intermediate runs)
    3. Winter Park (Love the feel of being in the trees)
    4. Park City (Another good intermediate mountain)
    5. Wolf Creek (You have to be a man... or just well acclimated to ski there)
