We had an Alpha Dog once... he was a small and bald dog, but he was the Alpha Dog no doubt. Then Les Alexander fired him.
I have been reading this board for some time and IMHO you fit the definition of a TOF to a T. You TOFs attack the other Rockets players all the time in order to defend or to talk up your own hero Tmac. Why don't you fools start your own Tmacmania.com instead of trying to ruin this site?
Oh please cut the crap about Yao's leadership skills, when was the last time he won a game by taking over and imposing his will in clutch situation? No, Yao isn't that kind of player and has no right to question T-Mac's integrity in public and call him "soft". Please tell me who was responsible for our 50 win season last year? 3 years ago? Face the fact that even if T-Mac is lazy at times and plays without passion, he still is the guy who single handedly carried the team when Yao was out for half a season. Can you the same about Yao when T-Mac is injured? I am tired of people blaming T-Mac for our shortcomings when in fact Yao is the one who has problem stepping up and carrying the load. Without Yao, T-Mac can put the team on his shoulder and play inspired but when Yao is back in the lineup, both struggle to play well together. T-Mac gears down thinking Yao is there to take care of things but that is a false assurance. McGrady has his issues as well but still he is our most dependable player with the ability to takeover a game at any point. Yao is the one who is unable to outplay guys like Okur and Boozer, people against whom he has significant height advantages yet still gets bounced around by guys half his size.
Can't agree with you. Give Yao the exact same body and skills, then add Hakeem's mentality and you'd have an unstoppable force. I had hopes that Yao would step up his mental approach after working with Dream a little this summer, but so far I haven't seen any signs of progress at all.
Biedrins' take: "It's harder to move Yao out once he gets position because he's a really heavy guy. You seem to know more than a NBA player who has played against Yao before.
I agree that tracy is soft and sometimes heartless. But this team is built around yao and tracy. We don't have anyone else that can carry the load...or rather try to carry the load. This has been proven anytime tracy is out the lineup. We can't score! This team is not built to succeed without t-mac.
Really?? Like in the 05-06 season when T-Mac was out practically the whole year? Or is it the other way around? Remember last year when Yao was out for 32 games & the Rockets had a 20-12 record with T-Mac leading the way? Have you been watching Rockets games? Apparently not.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=271106010 Against San Antonio earlier this year. Not arguing that Yao is an Alpha Dog. Just saying...
I started this thread with the idea that we are NOT a championship caliber team. We have to trade one of our "stars" to get to that level. I can't stand completely behind the thread title. Yao may not be all that I would want as a leader for my team. I think that he is working to be the best player he can be and wants the rest of his team to work at least as hard as he is. He doesn't seem to have the respect of his teammates where he can demand more from them and have them follow. I think his heart is in the right place. I don't believe that T-Mac is working as hard or demanding as much. So, assuming that we have to trade one of the two, I think that trading T-Mac is the better option. Trade em both I don't care I just want a championship.
you know what amazes me? t-mac doesn't even seem angry or disappointed with his performance and the team's record. it's amazing that our star player takes losing this lightly. especially when our other star player is seething after every loss. yao is at least more of a leader than t-mac in that he cares about our team. t-mac has no heart or drive.
Oh mlwoo, oh mlwoo, wherever you are... Also realize that Howard was playing Yao 1v1 and Yao was playing against Orlando double teams.
Magic: 18-9 Rockets: 12-13 Howard: On short list for MVP this year. Yao: ??? Close matchup this game but overall this season, Howard >> Yao.
I thought so too. I'm glad it didn't happen as explicitly as Boozer did, but if we played Orlando again tomorrow, I'd probably think DH would still 'torch' him. Dwight puts up 20/10 on a night he is well defended, If I'm in the Magic camp I'm giving him an earful because he should 'torch' someone with Yao's speed. I suppose we all underestimate how strong Yao really is. At least I know I have.
In your dream DH would torch Yao before he could develop his midrange jumper. I doubt DH would ever have any midrange jumper as reliable as Amare's. DH cannot push Yao away like Shaq did. Neither could he shoot like boozer. On the other hand, Yao could torch DH any night if DH had to guard Yao one-on-one. So much for the DH being the best center. DH is the best center on the paper. Watch the game closely and you may see what dominance really means on the court other than on the stat sheet.
Rofflesarusholz must be so disappointed that he must be crying in his mama's arms now because D Howard failed to own Yao badly tonight. I hear this rofflesarusholz fool had planned to have an orgasm together with another fool called tmacyaofan_12 to celebrate the ownage. Too bad there is no celebration now . His consolation prize is that Yao and the Rockets had lost the game. I guess that made the night less disastrous to him. What a sorry human being.
I apologize for rebounds and steals only. Otherwise, I was pretty accurate. Dwight Howard is better than Yao.
Howard outplays Yao as Magic overpower Rockets Headlines on ESPN don't read that unless Yao got owned badly. Jesus Christ, Yao is 27 and Howard is 21. Yao got passed up.
