Should we go after him? He can play defense and shoot..I've liked how he played last year but I wonder what happened to him this season..
He would make a great 5th PG option... since Rafer is out, if Mike or Steve get injured, and Aaron Brooks dissapears off the face of the earth, he will play good minutes.
never heard of him. Ok I have, but I was just making the point that he's a no-name, and if the Griz dont see anything in him, then we sure as hell dont need him.
That's like saying us picking up another scrub F and say if Hayes, Scola, and Novak isn't available, he'll get some minutes. Kinsey is a scrub.. we have enough of those already. What we need is a veteran leadership. Someone who's been there who can put some toughness in this team and lead us to the promised land.
I don't quite understand the disinterest in this thread. At the tail end of last season, when the Grizzlies starting tanking Kinsey averaged 20.5 points, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals. I wonder when did any of our scrubs ever do that?
The grizzlies third string PG is better than our starting PG. Maybe that's why kinsey got cut, i certainly wouldn't discount him just because the grizzlies cut him.
The disinterest is based on the fact that we have 5 pg's and no roster spots and Tmac, who probably runs the point more than all 5 pg's. Not to mention have both had better stats than those and this guy just looks average at best and we have plenty of average. All that = stupid idea
He could be a poor mans Rip Hamilton http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/multimedia/tarence_kinsey_photos_0607-070501.html#
Tarence Kinsey is a capable player. He played college ball at South Carolina, of which I am an alum. The one thing he does that most Rockets do not do is hustle. Hes long, scrappy, has a pretty good jump shot, and plays tough defense. The Grizzlies had injury issues last season and he ended up starting some games towards the end of the year and thrived. Not the most athletic, but he deserves a spot in a rotation somewhere. Houston probably isn't the place though.
Rueben Patterson would be far more valuable then Kinsey would be. Plus, we are not picking up anyone that gets waived without trading someone first. We are over the tax and have our full 15 guaranteed contracts. There is no way we are going to pick up another marginal player that another team threw away, then cutting one of our players and eating another contract to end up paying more tax. If anything, I see us bringing Harris back long before we add anyone else.
