    VERY nice to see CUSA owning Gillispie, especially since the p***y has gone on record saying he'll never schedule UTEP...

    You are kidding right???

    Guy Lewis was one of the greatest basketball coaches (college, pro, whatever) in the history of the game. No way in hell does 1 game dictate all of his accomplishments over his career.

    Here is a list from Wiki:

    * 592 career wins
    * Five NCAA Final Four appearances
    * Two NCAA Final appearances
    * Three 30-plus-win seasons
    * 4 conference championships
    * Produced 10 first round NBA draft selections, and 29 NBA players in total
    * Only coach to have produced 3 of the NBA's top 50 players
    * Winning Coach of the Game of the Century vs. UCLA in the Astrodome
    * Named National Coach of the Year in 1968, and again in 1983
    * Coach of four Southwest Conference Tournament champions--1978, 1981, 1983 and 1984
    * College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007

    Hell, he was trying to get out of this game. He knew a game at Hofheinz would be a trap, although I don't think he was counting on the same against UAB and Gardner-Webb...

    I haven't ever done it before, but I can try. Will have to get directions on how to do it. I have taken it off of vhs or dvd but never off my dvr.

    The crowd sounded good. I don't know how big your arena is but the crowd sounded into it most of the game. I heard them chanting but I didn't know what they were saying until I came here to read what yall that were at the game said.

    UK fans are spread out far and wide, so it's not surprising there were several there (also probably had a faction come down specifically for the game, heck I would if I were rich!! LOL)

    I wonder if the Aggie fans were rooting for or against Billy G.

    Was at the game last night with some of my U of H buddies (they hooked it up with an ID for me so I got in for free) Was rooting for the Coogs even though I've already graduated from UT. Had some UT connections with Penders being a former UT head coach and Dion Dowell playing his first year at UT and then transferring to U of H. Impressed by the team, should be NCAA tourney bound.

    Student section was loud the entire game, I believe a little less than 9,000 people was the announced attendance. The Gillespie sucks chant was awesome and extremely loud, I believe it happened right after he was hit with that technical. Overall great game, looking forward to going to a few more marquee games if I can get in for free - specifically Arizona and then Memphis.

    The arena holds about 8,500 and thats how many were there last night. The ceiling is flat and low, so on the rare occassions the place is full, it gets EXTREMELY loud. It was also WAY too sweaty in there. They showed the Rox contigent on the Jumbotron and TMac was definitely wearing his Yankees cap. Everyone looked like they were having a good time, even Chuck, who was naturally chagrined. They only showed poor Chuck briefly to save him from being booed!

    There was a nice "Gillespie Sucks" chant that went up around the time the Coogs were up 24. I don't think Houston fans actually care about Gillespie, but the chant was probably started by a couple A&M fans and as you know from this board, Houstonians will take any opportunity to disparrage any and everything! ;)

    I'd say there were about 2,000 UK fans in attendence. They were amazed that beer is served at Hoffheinz Pavilion and were definitely taking advantage. A&M fans were NOT rooting for Billy.

    It was a great game to attend and that's what makes Kentucky so great... everyone shows up to see them! You're pretty lucky to be a fan, Hayesfan, even though it prolly doesn't feel like it right now.

    It's hard to be a fan a lot of the time, even when we are winning because there is a small fraction of UK fans that are "over the top" that give us a bad name. But the tradition is one that I am glad to be a part of.

    I can honestly say I have never been to a game that can compare to a UK-Florida or UK-Louisville or UK-UNC game at Rupp. The place is electric, I would imagine its like the Final Four for other teams.

    The party on the streets in Lexington after we won in 96 and 98 was the best times I had at UK. Hundreds of people hugging and shouting and just celebrating.

    This year reminds me a lot of the post probation year where Rick was here. We had virtually no talent ( eventually we had a big man...Jamal Mashburn, like we have Patrick now) and though the rest of the guys were gym rats and did their best, they just weren't talented enough to beat a lot of teams.

    I have hope that BCG can turn it around this year. It's still early, the proof will be in how we play when all our players are healthy and on the same page.

    UK may be down, but they're still UK.

    Kudos to the Coogs!

    Thats the question cougar fans have been asking for 20yrs. Its crazy to even think just for what he did for the game we are talking about the coach who helped get the first regular season game broadcast on national tv. There are people that want to help him get in the hall but noone knows who is in charge because the basketball hall of fame keeps it in secret who controls the voting. That is a biggest crime in sports. Put Guy V. in the hall!!!

    The Show is off to its best start (10-1) since 1983-84. That year Phi Slamma Jamma went to the Final Four.

    Lou Carneseca is in and he went to one final four and John Chaney is in with no final fours so the no championship arguement has no merit.

    Guy V. Lewis is the only college coach to have three of his former players honored a couple of years ago on the NBA's Top 50 all time players.

    Elvin Hayes
    Clyde Drexler
    Hakeem Olajuwon

    I loved to get the chance to see the game on TV out here in Arizona. Looking forward to them getting a chance to beat the Arizona Wildcats here real soon. If Hofheinz is packed again for Arizona, I think the Cougars can pull off the upset. A loud crowd and the Cougars defense should cause Arizona to turn the ball over a lot. I've watch the AZ Wildcats play and they are prone to turnovers when pressured.
