My brother left his 360 with me while he is on Winter break from UT. I have a month with it and want to play some games that are exclusive to the system. What are the must-play games for it? I have copies Halo 3 & Gears, which I have played already and I bought a used Dead Rising that I'm just starting. I'd prefer to buy used games so they don't have to be the newest ones. The only new one I've thought about is Bioshock. Is it worth it?
Bioshock is great and is winnign many game of the year awards. More than anything, the environment is great. Call of Duty 4 is amazing in both the single player campaign and the multiplayer online mode Orange Box is the value of the year. Includes Half Life 2 Episodes I and 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. Mass Effect is the latest action/rpg from BioWare. They made Stars Wars: KOTOR and Jade Empire on the original xbox. those are the only real must buys. there are other good games, but those are the cream of the crop.
Call of Duty 4 - can't get enough of this game. I also like Fight Night: Round 3 - great boxing game and you can play a lot of the greats or create your own character and play him in career mode. Pretty cool game, lots of finger work.
Assasin's Creed is a snoozefest. The first mission is amazing, then you realize you just repeat the exact same process the entire game. Get's really boring after a couple of hours. It's a renter, not a buyer.
Bioshock is the next game I get. Mass Effect is awesome. I've finished it once, and I'm replaying it now. I almost never replay games, but this one is different. I've heard nothing but very enthusiastic reviews for bioshock, and it won X-Play's game of the year award as well a couple of other awards as well.
I've made it to Colonel level in multiplayer COD4 but 2 things are beginning to make me play the game less & less. 1) Juggernaut perk. Very annoying to dump 50 rounds from an M60 into some guy, only to have him somehow kill you AFTER you started shooting him. 2.) Spawn points. Insanely annoying to kill someone from the other team, only to have them respawn 4 seconds later right BEHIND you. Each team should have its own designated spawn points in specific areas of the map.
I think BioShock is a bit overrated, but it is still pretty good (probably still one of the top 5-10 console games of the year), so I would definitely recommend checking it out. Some of the things that bothered me may not even effect you, in which case you'll probably enjoy it much more than I did. If you haven't played Orange Box for the PS3 yet, you'd probably want to check it out on the 360. I can only really recommend it if you haven't played HL2 yet since I've yet to play Portal, TF2, etc., but it should be really good (and probably the best bang for the buck compared to other games). I haven't played Mass Effect, but if I had a 360, that would probably be the first game I'd check out. In the past, I've heard good things about Crackdown and Lost Planet, so you may want to look into those games, especially if you can get them for relatively cheap.
Well, don't forget the Last Stand perk that allows them to shoot with their pistol before completely dying. Most of your 50 rounds probably miss anyway.
neg on Lost Planet, I would not recommend that as a purchase at all. most people were disappointed by it
I could have sworn I read a lot of positive impressions about Lost Planet, although maybe that was mostly from the demo. I didn't really care for what the game was about, so I didn't really follow it that well. Would it be worth buying if you could get it for ~$20 or so? I was basically trying to suggest something like that, although maybe it wouldn't even be worth that much.
You should absolutely LOVE Dead Rising - it really is a blast. How can anyone NOT love a game that has you killing thousands of zombies with every imaginable item you can get your hands on, AND rewards you with massive points for taking naughty close-up panty and cleavage photos of several different saucy damsels? An older game exclusive to 360 (I think) that you may get a kick out of is Ninety Nine Nights. It really is interesting to see so many hundreds of enemies on-screen at the same time, and the game is so weirdly Japanese, the combos are pretty easy to learn, and there's lots of variety. Good pick-up if cheap. Saints Row was originally going to be ported to PS3, but it was canceled, so it's another exclusive 360 title, older, so it should be cheap too. Decent fun, open-world, lots of variety as well. I think Prey is also an exclusive 360 title - and it's definitely out there used for cheap, but it's got a lot of good new twists on game-play - you can change where gravity comes from, you can walk on the ceilings, and you get to become a kind of 'spirit warrior' thing, where you can manage to go places that your physical body cannot. Interesting story and good graphics.
