It is a known fact that both Van Gundies work very hard in preparing for games. I remember Jeff saying he and Stan talk at least once a week, and that he'd happily be an assistant to Stan if he didn't have to move his family. My guess is SVG and his assistants (JVG's former assistants) will likely have dinner with JVG somewhere in the West U area.

So, what decision will JVG make? Will he stay loyal to Yao and Tracy and his former team, or will he give SVG a full scouting report on the Rockets, assessing our players' strengths and weaknesses, maybe even a strategy or gameplan?

All the hype will be around Dwight vs. Yao. It will be interesting to watch how SVG defends Yao and Tracy.

I think if SVG traps Francis and Head every opportunity he gets, be it full court or half court, then JVG will have definitely put in a word, because one thing that stands out to me from last year and this year as a commentator, JVG always comments on how poor a ball-handler and decision-maker Luther Head is.

    What do you think?

I kinda think we must not be very hard to scout, cause we are stinking it up without any insider information anyways. I doubt Jeff will have any dirt if anything on us.

Probably not. Wednesday is ESPN night. He'll either be in Dallas or Boston tomorrow and will have to prepare for his own work

Highly doubt it since it's NBA night on ESPN every Wednesday and Friday. Jeff will more than likely be announcing a game.

They'd have dinner tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

Jeff usually travels the day of games.

At this point I don't think Stan would ask for their help. Rockets are disorganzied with low morale.

i doubt any coach needs tips on how to beat the rockets, given that the gamepan's been the same for years. trap tmac and double yao, and watch the rest crumble.

Orlando, along with the rest of the league, has already figured out that Luther and Francis are poor ballhanders. If it took their scouts 5 years to find this out, they need new scouts. :)

They should also know the weaknesses of Yao, McGrady and the other rockets. Orlando should be able to figure out those weaknesses. The rest of the league is already exploiting it.

They won't need any of JVG's help against us.

I don't think there is anything Jeff would tell Stan that Stan doesn't already know.

The Orlando Magic do have a scouting staff, you know.

Does Stan need any help from anyone at all rather than Adelman. Aldelman will put Yao in the high post to pick for T-Mac (opps, if he plays), and T-Mac will make a jump shoot at 20 feet and make sure Yao is not on the low post to catch any offensive rebounds. The other three guys standing anywhere they want, becase they will not get ball passed.

There is no scout out there that know more about the Rockets weaknesses than JVG. ANd if his brother ask for help there is no doubt he will drop the dime on us.

They liked it so much here in Houston that they sold their house back in NY.
could not find a link on this, but it is true.

In May 2005, Jeff Van Gundy was fined $100,000 by the NBA for accusing referees for investigating the on-court actions of Rockets' center Yao Ming on the recommendation of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. This is the largest fine ever handed down to a coach in NBA history

JVG probably advise them to front Yao, double TMac or advise DHoward to
fould out Yao with his quickness. However, I believed our main concern is
Rashard Lewis 3pts scoring. If we can make sure Lewis is having a poor shooting night, we'll have a chance. Otherwise, we'll be buried under his
    barrage of 3 pts.
