Maybe I should just say it slow for the DD haters. Our PGs suck, they are the main problem....get a decent PG on the floor and the entire team would be much better. As to whether Aaron Brooks is the 2nd coming of Parker or Paul...come on, all I said was that Parker was drafted low and he did ok....and Paul is short.....as is Brooks. Stop leaping to assinine conclusions........ All this thread is about is giving Brooks a shot.....give him some time, he can't possibly do any worse, can he? DD
Ok, I'm a Landry Homer, Lets give him major minutes cause he'll turn the Rockets around. lol even though I am a Landry Homer, I know better to hitch my wagon to a rookie 2nd rounder like Landry to pull the team through it's current doldrums. Same goes for Aaron Brooks. He might be great but until I see it in limited minutes then no, I am not saying he's going to be the next Iverson. I am not opposed to playing him with 5-10 minutes though.
Typical of you to see a load of crap and tell us its gold. And then go back and try to rewrite history and fabricate a backstory - this time you are trying to make a statistical argument in favor of the b**** -doubly hilarious, because he put up some of the very worst numbers in the entire NBA last year. It is funny to hear you pitch that "turn him into a jumpshooter" crap. You used to sell us this same load of crap when riding Nachbar's nuts (who is having a mediocre season this year - but I digress), then he had his one good season last year based almost entirely on the strenght of his jumpshooting. Your analysis has the depth of puddle.
Too bad Aaron Brooks isn't from Europe and didn't go to Duke and isn't white, those factors would have greatly increased the DD love train.
Do you have anything to add to the thread topic of trying to play Aaron Brooks because the rest of our PGs are struggling, or are you just in here trying to goad me into a tired old argument, and make snide low blow type of remarks? It is time for a Sam Fisher time out. DD
Dear DD, http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=3292370#post3292370 Please refer to post #56. Thanks, Baller
Baller, It is not Rocket science to say that if something is not working try something else. Or do you think they should just keep floundering along? DD
Just having some fun with the predictability of your posts. I mean sure, why not....we're borderline garbage right now at the point. I'm not sure what to make of Francis after watching last night. MJ is still a good player that's struggling and not being used correctly. Rafer is Rafer. Luther should never, ever be trusted to handle the ball. Brooks obviously deserves a shot at some point. I just think that some people have this foolish notion that he's going to be the next Chris Paul or something. Brooks is a shoot first, pass second player. He's not that great of a natural point (i.e instincts, vision, overall passing ability). Plus, you can't just throw a rookie into the rotation and give him heavy minutes. He would need to be transitioned into the rotation first. Adelman is so hopelessly clueless with this team right now that he actually might try something like this so you never know, though.
I think we should and must give Brooks a shot, because there are just no alternatives there. Who knows if it will work out, but we have to try it. And sounds like Coach Adekman will not hesitate to use him in the near future. Is Paul really the same height as Brooks? My only concern is his lack of size may become a liability in defense. On the other hand, only a few of those elite point guards can post well (e.g., Williams of Uta). There should be no problem for him to stay in front of those elite point guards, though. With failed experiements in Steve and MJ to date (I still have some hope that they may come around later), we can't just settle on Rafer as our best chance as the point guard. It did not pan out when we had JVG as the coach for a team that played much harder. There is no way Rafer as our point guard can lead this team to a better record this year.
Good post Baller. I agree with you about Adelman being clueless with the team so far, at some point he will figure the team out. Mike James is much better that what he has shown and Scola as well, its going to be a work in progress. I don't know if Brooks is the answere right now, but it may not hurt at this point since Francis looks pretty bad as the starting point. Should the rockets bite the bullet right now with Brooks and play him or should they just stay with the more proven veterans? You know Brooks is going to make mistakes especially in the beginning, but it may be worth the gamble (ala. Sam Cassell) to find out. Who knows.
All of our guards are better than what they have shown. This has to do with playing as a unit. Knowing each other and buying into the system.
I am for giving AB minutes by way of cutting a mix of LH's and SF's minutes. I want to see him play at least ten minutes next game. I think it will be a decent matchup for him considering jameer nelson's size. I would want him to play next game because if he can hold his own against nelson while giving the team a lift offesively (which I think he can) it will keep his confidence high coming off the few games he played in the D league. He can shoot better than Alston and SF, he is faster than any player on the Rox, and he can handle the ball better than anyone not named Alston. Im ready to see this kid start getting some minutes at the expense of the other guards on this team. I really dont think we have as much to lose as some people have mentioned.
Langhi Nachbar Spanoulis Luke Scott Now Aaron Brooks. Well, at least Aaron Brooks is black, so maybe the result will be different.
