It possibly would have resulted in a win, but also would have resulted in less Yao offensive touches (especially in game 7 in the 4th when Yao had 14pts), more of Kobe going outside of the offensive gameplan and more 30+ shot nights from a single player (T-Mac has had 18 games of 30 FGA's or more in a single game since he arrived in Houston...Kobe has had 3 between 05-06/06-07...both players shot below their season average in more than 50% of those games). Kobe also wouldn't have been able to rack up 16 and 13 assist nights in the same series like T-Mac did with a severely struggling supporting cast.

Passion is nice, but T-mac shows up when it counts, and has done a very good job of leading this Rockets team. He has his flaws, but go to any general NBA forum and you will find T-Mac being rated above/WELL above players like Arenas, AI, Carter, Melo, etc... The only top tier swingmen that are consistently ranked ahead of him are Kobe LeBron and Wade, all of which are VERY special players, HoF players. T-Mac is an extremely talented and productive player himself, but it is unfair to criticize him because he isn't QUITE the player those 3 are.

Edit- The number for Kobe was 37 30+ FGA games, not 3.

If T-Mac would play with more fire and passion than he does right now, I wouldn't think of him as an average player like I do now. Even though the team had a tough schedule to start out the season, their record would be far better than it is now if he had played each game with more fire and passion consistently.

A thread I have thought of starting concerning T-Mac is do you think that he's the same player today that he was prior to his large spate of back problems two seasons ago? Right now, I'm only thinking of starting such a thread after season's end because that's the time I feel it would be most appropriate for everyone to draw conclusions.

Such answers I would have to the poll attached to this thread are superstar, excellent player, and good enough player to help a team win games.

he would be better than Kobe...

Tmac demanded the trade over here...and more than likely would still be in Orlando... if he had heart... and wasnt a quitter....

the poll selections, even though it was to make a point, could have still made the point without being so limited but whatever...

But I agree whole heartedly with that point. McGrady didnt totally grow new stripes when he came over from Orlando. If there was even a difference in perception of McGrady thats all from Van Gundy's defensive and disciplined system. Not from McGrady himself.

Garnett got traded waaaay later in his career after he was used up to the max in Minnesota, and NOT when he was 25 in the PRIME of his career. You can conclude if that were to have happened, Garnett or Duncan being traded at 25, you'd sense there'd be flaws with THEM.

I think T-Mac has some motivation problems but I still think this poll is stupid. The T-Mac now isn't the same T-Mac as at Orlando. Injuries have taken a toll on him and his supporting cast is better here than with the Magic. It would be nice to see a little of the Me-Mac from Orlando but we don't need him to be Me-Mac and he likely can't sustain that same level as he did before.

I know you have posted a lot of good threads in the past but this one is simply poor.

Sorry sir but the point of complaining is to call for a change. We cannot sit and expect the same tmac just trying to make his stats look good. This is one reason we have forums like this.

I don't like the poll options. Specifically, McGrady never was "An Orlando Magic". Since Magic in this sense is a collective noun, you can't use it describe a single player. McGrady was a Player for the Orlando Magic. You could say that he was "The Orlando Magic", but I think that means something dfferent than what you want to say.

I don't know, but definitely probably the closest thing to him. Better than Bryant for sure. His God given talent is probably still the best in the league. His rare combination of shooting, passing ability, ball handling, court vision, height and length, added with the fire and determination of a Garnett or Kobe, dude could have been a top ten all-time player!

But then again, he probably would not be here either......

exactomundo....................and I recommend that fans continue to call out this guy...he could be the guy and we could be title contenders if tmac "wanted" to bring it every night...but he's a egotistical, selfish, at times lazy, soft player who quits on his team....................

no you won't...........Melo, AI, and Arenas > Tmac.................carter is the only guy I'd put him above in that short list......I'd trust those 3 men in a big game before I'd trust tracy......and since when has he showed up when it counts???....nowadays we're having trouble with him showing up when it doesn't count........
