the reason why Barkley and Bill down us is because their criticisms are right......some of you'll act like the rockets are the only team to get criticized.....Barkley was a long time Sun, still lives in Phoenix now, etc...but he still is quick to point out the Suns weaknesses....Calvin Murphy was a long time rocket and despite being chewed up and spit out by Les still does things for the organization today...but he is still quick to criticize other players.....and Bill never hated the rockets, he used to worship the ground that Hakeem walked on, lol.....in all honesty he more than anyone else in the national media gave/and still gives Hakeem the respect that he deserves....
Walton isn't a Rockets hater. I've met the guy. Barkley isn't a Rocket hater, I've watched grab 33 rebounds for us. Stick to the Hangout or D&D and quit poisoning our Karma, Mehdi! Release your hate.
Not only does Bill always mention his love for the Dream. He always mentions Robert Horry with Michael Jordan as the "best clutch shooters in NBA History" also mentioned that they should have some special place for Horry in the hall of fame.
great stuff cabbage..... this complaining about people who get paid to give their opinion on teams/individuals when they make a negative comments is really becoming a broken record...
That was one of the greatest tragedies in the history of sport, in the history of Houston, and in the development of mankind. You know... I like to think about fanbases who have respect for the legends. I like to think of UCLA Bruin fans who have the ultimate deference to the greatest mind to ever walk the hardwood, my old coach and good friend, John Wooden. The Wizard of Westwood. I like to think of Penn State Nittany Lions fans who have the commitment and the loyalty to continue to support the great Joe Paterno and everything that he stands for. I like to think of Rolling Stones fans who continue to go to concerts and celebrate the great music that once was. And I used to like to think about Houston Rockets fans. The old Houston Rockets fans knew who their legends were. They cheered for the heroes Moses Malone, Calvin Murphy, Clyde Drexler, and the Great Hakeem Olajuwon. One dark night in April, that all changed. The new Houston Rockets fans showed me that they disrespect history, they defile their heritage, and they boo their legends. April 21, 2007 is a day that will live in infamy.
can you link me to that article? also, check this one: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=139335
Walton is not Barkley, Walton is the one who said that there was a person (Yao) in China who could match with Shaq when everyone said nobody in the world could match up with Shaq in 2001 or 2002, and Barkey is one who disliked the Yao as the no.1 pick. Luckly the rox GM did not listen to him, then you know what would like today.
Walton doesn't hate the Rockets, but he doesn't really like the way we play. If there's one thing Walton dislikes its walking the ball up the court, look at the coach for the play basketball.
That actually doesn't mean he's lacking in basketball knowledge. These guys have to cover all 30 teams, plus international ball (which is Isola's speciality) so it's hard to make perfect predictions about every team. The point is that he thought the Rockets would be real good, which they were. Coming off the Mavs collapse in the Finals and considering the monotany of picking the Spurs every year, it's not that surprising that he went with the Rockets.
