Let's face it. Bagwell was a borderline HOFer at best before the Mitchell Report. Does this ensure that he will never make the Hall of Fame?

i'm voting no as of now.

it all depends on the substantiation for each player being named. just a list of names saying, "we think these guys did steroids" ain't gonna keep anyone out, no matter how much Richard Justice keeps reporting that Andy and Roger are no longer headed for the Hall of Fame.

First of all, I disagree with this statement.

I wouldn't put any credence in the list floating around the internet. It's already be discredited. Just wait an hour until the real list comes and if he on it then we can talk about this.

I think he was a certain Hall of Famer but not a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Definitely not "borderline at best." That implies more likely not to make it than make it. I disagree with that assessment.

I didn't mean to imply that. Before the Mitchell Report, I thought he would make it. But I thought he's one of the guys who would have to wait for a year with few good candidates and the voters had to start seriously looking at guys they hadn't voted for before.

I see. I totally agree with that take.

As for your poll question, I'm honestly not sure. So many prominent names are about to come out that I'm not sure how it's going to affect HOF voting.

I could even see a scenario where HOF voters say that so many people did it that they can't keep them all out and some of these guys end up getting in.

It's so hard getting in the head of a HOF voter!

if bagwell's on this list and they have evidence he took steroids, he has ZERO shot a the hall of fame. I think he's a lock to get in eventually if he's clear of this whole thing, but he probably isn't.

I scanned the PDF and found no mention of Bagwell, did see Clemens, Pettite, and Knoblauch, David Justice.

Bags being on the list or not has nothing to do whether he makes the HOF or not. Although he apparently is NOT on the list.

If Bags had reached 500 HRs then he would be in. If I had a vote, he would be in but since players like Jim Rice are still NOT in after many years in the ballot. Well I think Bags will have a hard time.
