Extremely legitimate source who checks the board a lot told me today "nothing could be further from the truth" on the Rockets pursuing Kemp or Howard. The Cavs are horrified at the prospect of Kemp's contract and his conditioning. They are trying to unload him just about anywhere, but he reiterated the Rockets do NOT want Kemp for sure. Also said the Rockets couldn't afford Howard.
this is the first time I have noticed a thread started by you so let me take the opportunity to say "great site!". Anyway, does this source know if the Rox have any deals on the burner?
I know Kemp is defintely not true, but Howard I have some question. I wouldn't say we can't afford Howard. Its more like why would we want him? He's good and young but overpaid. If we really wanted him, we could get him. We have enough overpaid guys like Walt on the team.
Notice he said we can't afford Howard... not we do not want Howard. It means there was some interest, but through salary cap problems we can't trade for him.
Well, for one thing we won't be getting Howard, because there's talk of a trade between Washington and New York. Sending Patrick Ewing to Washington and Juwan Howard to New York. CNNSI said that they've been talking about it for a while! www.JunkyardDog.web.com ------------------ -Junkyard Dog "Maybe we need an enema" - Othella Harrington
Now you see, there is the difference. That would be a good trade for the Knicks, while trading Dream for Howard would be bad for the Rockets. 1) Olajuwon only has one more year left on his contract, while I think Ewing has 2 or more left. The Knicks wouldnt be tied up for any more years, so who would you rather be stuck with?...Old-Man Ewing or Juwan Howard? 2) Ewing hasn't done jack for that organization and they don't owe him jack-crap. So, the loyalty issue doesn't come into play here. Ewing also has shown a want to leave the Knicks (Heat comments) so they wouldn't be doing nothing wrong there.
I hear everyone dishin' the RAIN MAN; and well deserved. Shawn Kempt had so much potential while he was with Seattle; much attributed to George Karl and Gary Payton (two first class guys). Look at him now, so sorry with no game anymore and living and looking like a big fat pig. But the guy does have potential. All he needs is someone to guide him and put him in check. Rudy can do that for this guy. But, why mess with the chemistry? Cato really does look like the center of the future for the Rockets. Cato is a superb shot blocker and very solid defensively. He is what the Rockets need!!!!! The rockets do not need another big name. They already have the big time players, not nationally hyped but soon to be household names. NBC did its part when they showcased the rockets the other day. Soon baby, soon, everyone will fear the rockets once again!!
I heard the Rockets were trying to sign Chuck Nevitt. Anyone know if this is true? That would certainly add us another umm... Presence? Yeah he has this intimidation factor about him...... ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
No no no, it was Mark Eaton....or maybe it was Robert Parrish. I can't remember! Jim Peterson would be a nice addition. Remember his Randall's grocery store commercials. *I think*
