For all of you who actually mentioned that it's unlikely that we'll make the playoffs.... did you even notice the last 10 for all of the other top teams in the West ... other than the Spurs? Alot of 5-5 and 6-4. Apparently only the Spurs aren't having issues, and yet none of these teams had nearly the magnitude of changes that we did. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/stand...p=conference&seasontype=2&standType=standings
Of course we're making the playoffs, you think a team with Yao/T-Mac miss the playoffs, we'd be the joke of the NBA like Miami, Chicago, Memphis. Hell even New York has some good players, while Indiana has Jermaine O'Neil and some white guys. It's all about the formula.
I go by what it has taken in previous years to make the playoffs. According to recent history, this team will need to win 50+ to even have a decent shot at home court advantage in the first round. .500 basketball will quite likely leave a team sitting at home watching in the first round.
Nothing like the stunned "silence" following a victory over a contending team. The mad panic of the horde of Nervous Nellies subsides, if only for a night. Long may it continue.
Ahh, but there's still grumbling... as if some want the Rockets to lose to validate their gloom-and-doom.
Actually it's much closer to 43 39 and with Jan-March as one of the easiest schedules in the league I would say we are course to 50 games again. That's of course that the Rocket team that showed up last night shows up more games than not and we make a few free throws.
it's actually the easy teams we have had problem beating. so far we have beat phx, utah, sa, la and det. hopefully we'll get dallas next game.
my god.. i have never seen a game where a team shot better from the floor than from the free throw line... that was disturbing to say the least
A cool site (pun intended) is http://www.coolstandings.com/basketball/ After running simulations, they expect the Rockets to have 46.6 wins which is good enough for 9th place in the West. They also estimate that the Rockets have a 71.7% chance of making it to the postseason.
This Rockets team is amazing isn't it? It shot better from three point land than from the line. Maybe we needed to step back 10 feet.
