I'm going to Vegas next week. We're meeting up w/ some friends there. Said friends are going to do one of those 'stay for free at our timeshare' sales pitch deals. My friends said they did it once in Orlando and it wasn't too bad concerning a hard sell. They keep pushing us to try it out w/ them but I'm not crazy about it. I don't want to be held prisoner there while trying to fend off pushy salesmen. Has anyone done these things recently? It's at Tahiti Village in Las Vegas if anyone is familiar w/ it.

I almost posted a thread asking about this the other day. They wear those Tahiti Village commercials in the ground so they must be making money somehow.

I did a Google search on Tahiti Village and people talked about the tough sell pressure. I'm not sure I could handle it.

I've also heard talk about some time shares where they make you stay at a lesser property...I'm not sure if Tahiti Village pulls the same crap.

I'm guessing they don't pick up the airfare, correct? Give us a report about it when you get back.

It's not worth it. Do you really want to spend a day of your vacation getting a high pressure sales pitch just to save a couple hundred bucks on your hotel room? Besides, I don't like going to Vegas and staying somewhere that doesn't have a casino...it's just not the same. You're going on Vacation, enjoy it doing what YOU want to do, not what someone else wants you to do. My parents actually own a timeshare and I'm on their deed, so I stay there from time to time, it seems like the people that work at these places are pretty big jerks. I've not met someone that didn't try to pressure me into doing something or another...

Why don't you buy your own vacation place, rent it out to vacationers all but 2-4 weeks a year, and get a free vacation every year?

Because then you have to maintain a house/apartment/condo in another state. That can be a pain when it's two miles down the road, never mind across the country.

You can hire agencies to do that, as well as the booking, for you.

my ex and I did one in FL and got 2 nights free at Sleep Inn hotel near Universal Studios last year and free tixs to Magic Kingdom. It wasn't bad at all. The sales people get you pretty good and pressure you to hell, if it was just my ex that was there, she would've bought the time share, but I stuck to my guns and just said no.

I gotta say though, those sells people are good at what they do, I just didn't get suckered by it.

Frys is across the street from Tahiti Village. Frys sells p*rn.

There's a new "town center" also across the street from Tahiti Village...next to Frys.

For some odd reason, they advertise that stupid Tahiti Village commercial on the radio stations here in Vegas. Duh. I live right up the street.

I've done this before, but paid a discounted rate at nice resorts...I'll be doing it again in Hawaii this summer...It's worth it to me as unless its a good deal, i won't be buying anything...

THat's why I get to stay at these nice places, to hear their BS for a couple of hours...
