Well considering some posters vendetta vs. players or coaches, I start to wonder if everyone on this board care is the rockets as a team suceed.
I disagree but this could be because I am also a Kings fan and biased towards Adelman. I have seen what he has made the Sacramento Kings. It took them a couple of years + player movements to become a contender. Him and Geoff Petrie mixed and matched players until they found something that worked. Rick is here as a part of a long term plan. JVG was a good coach and I do strongly believe that it was a mistake to fire him but face it guys, he's not coming back. The Rockets are trades away from being contenders.
I agree. If we are to make changes on this team, there is no need to start at the top. That means no trading Tmac, no trading Yao, or firing Adelman. A small change on this team can work just as well as a big one. Go back to the beginning of the 04 05 season. Rockets were struggling until they inserted Bob Sura at starting point guard, who at that time was a border-line scrub. His toughness and steadiness in running the offense meant a whole lot to the team. Now, we have the ability to make those same small changes again. Remember that our team is loaded with talent right up to the 15th player, which means anyone of them can make a difference on the court with increased minutes or we can easily use their value in a trade. I'm thinking that enough teams are interested in trading for talents like Snyder, Head, or maybe Novak, who are all rotting on the bench. Also, I've said this before, we can try and get Mike Harris back who undoubtedly deserved to be included on the final roster if it weren't for financial limitations.
we were just lack of a little luck last year, God wasnt on our side. on rebounce could change the result. VGD deserve one more year. does anyone know is it possible that VGD return to Rocket?
Hey buddy, I do not no, I chose to fire Rick and hire back JVG, but I do not think that is realistic. BUT WE DO HAVE BETTER CHOICE - THE OLD SMART GUY WHO WATCHED ROCKETS VS 76ERS, LARRY BROWN. Why not him, he is a better choice, better than JVG, way better than loser Rick. He is suitable for rockets, he is one kind of coach that will balance offence and deffence. And he have the personality that govern the court and all these players. I gaurantee that if rockets have him, world champion is a step away, man.
ah well, he way its going we'll be the Knicks of the West pretty soon, if we arent there already that is. Lets see if we can do ANYTHING against the Pistons tomorrow, show a little fire at least.
What a r****ded thread. All parties involved have too much pride to make this happen. Even if RA was fired tomorrow, I doubt that JVG would want to come back, and I highly doubt that Les would ask him back. Have the Rockets ever done anything that strange since Les bought them? Is your scenario even remotely similar to how the Rockets have normally operated? Isn't this a team that took a lot of flak because of the unorthodox way JVG was replaced, and do you honestly believe that this team won't be extra careful and do it "by the book" in the future? The Rockets are known for making daring trades, but treating coaches like they were collectible trading cards is not normally how they do business. And just because the Rockets are floundering doesn't mean that JVG was or is the answer. Don't expect a dog to meow or a cat to bark. Bonzi Wells, Mike James, and Franchise are what they are. If they were in their prime, they wouldn't have come so cheap. The pieces could be better, but it's still T-Ming's team, and they've got to step up.
hey guy!We just need more patience.Maybe the schedule is not pretty good.Maybe there are too many away games.I think things will go well soon.
Hey...I am the leader of the Gundy Club. But I thought the firing was justified. I mean...I do love him as a coach...well, maybe a little more than that! But I want my team to win and he had 4 years to do it. Would I personally have fired him if I owned the team? No. Because I hear what players and coaches say about him. You heard it from our two franchise players during his stay here. That being said, I need to see rings. If they let him go...so be it. I would of loved to see JVG with talent on this years roster. We either have patience and know that the players for RA's offense/defense are not here. Or lets keep up the b****ing. Either way...seems to be a long season a'coming. PS...too much yapping. Removed some of the yapping.
I am not gonna say that "THIS" team can win... however JVG is NOT the answer. You guys are so pathetic. Holding the ball until the shot clock expires does not = "great defense". And for some unknown reason half the GARM seems to think that he is a genius. We forget how his team was up in the Dallas series and should have beaten Utah as well. He is a stubborn coach who fails to make adjustments. (see the previous sentence). What this team needs is #1 a "starting" NBA caliber point guard. By now it should be completely obvious that we have 3 backups. #2 This team also lacks a consistent outside shooter. Stop and imagine JVG's system without Luther Head last year. NO ONE to knock down the outside shot. That's what you would have this year (With your JVG savior as coach). So now we hold the ball for 20 seconds and miss the last shot without anyone on the team to hit an open three. I also am not convinced that Shane is the best player for Adelman's system.... or he is having a really OFF year. The main areas that need to be upgraded for this team to succeed are the point guard play and the outside shooting. Until this is fixed we are NOT a championship team. Take a look back at the championship teams... you will quickly note that they have compitent point guards and could knock down the outside shot when needed. So unless JVG will step in and fill these two needs, then there really is no need to discuss this any further. Hopefully this will help some of you realize he is not the answer. As for the JVG HOMERs... I just waisted five minutes of time.
JVG can instill defensive discipline, but he can't run a motion offense. Rick's motion offense ideas are right for this team. He doesn't have the personnel for it, but he is weak on defense and also is mentally fragile.Bringing back JVG won't solve the problem.
Pathetic indeed!...all the way to 50+ wins. And what we would have with JVG as our Savior would be: 1) You not wasting 5 minutes. Because you basically restated that we need players to fit the defense. But you are just a wee bit angry there in your hate. I admit I am in bed with JVG. You admit you want him...to..die...(Dr. Evil voice). 2) More intensity on defense. I mean, you can say whatever you want about holding the ball...when all of us saw JVG wailing his arms over and over to push the ball. And lets not forget the defensive ranking and opponents FG%. But ok. 3) No b****ing in the locker room by our franchise center (who he turned into the best center in the NBA.) But, JVG haters like you would probably say that its in the Houston water. And I lived there! The water didn't do nothing for my b-ball skills so... Thanks for reading my 3.15 minutes!
Just for honesty's sake, Yao b****ed about JVG after the loss to Utah, he was complaining about JVG and is now complaining about not having JVG. Yao needs to make up his mind. DD
