liked him, still do, I don't know why he's struggling, I thought he be perfect for the system. If he shoots well he's okay
I've always liked his game in certain situations, and I have confidence that he'll turn it around, so I voted the first option.
I liked him in his first stint here. But now, he's either washed up or not trying very hard since he has his big contract.
Mike James is just 18 months removed from a stellar season in Toronto and 2 years removed from a stellar half season with the Tmac and Yao led Rockets. I thought his slump in Minnesota was an aberration, but so far he has been proving me wrong. His 36% FG and 32% 3pt % are well below his career averages, hell even below Rafer's career averages. Statistically, you would expect him to improve but he hasn't been showing any signs of that. I think part of the problem is how Adelman uses him. I think James would fit better as the PG not the SG. He wouldn't have to expend energy defending taller and stronger SGs while being defended by them. Also, he only averages 20 mpg. As a shooter, it's difficult to get into a rhythm when you don't get that many minutes to establish a rhythm AND your minutes aren't consistent. However, James has had his chances to show Adelman what he can do and he really hasn't taken advantage. I place most of the blame on Mike James's regression on James. At this point, I wouldn't be disappointed if James became a benchwarmer and Luther took his place.
I've watched MJ play in the summer league games on a team with Sam, Steve, and Moochie the summer killer and complain about not getting enough burn with that team. I lost a lot of respect for him cursing out the organizer. Let's remember that Mike has had 2 good seasons (1 w/Det and Tor), besides that Dude has been a jack em up me first player. He doesn't play D anymore either.
He is OK, somewhat dissappoiting shooting though. I think the problem is he, Alston and Francis are all too mediocre and all have major limitations. All would be fine as back-ups, all are a pretty weak link as a starter.
Did shane battier just shout at Mike James' defenseless arse and Mike James yell back to show his arrogance? Poor James, get his payday and lost his fire. I always think James was playing for his payday and he got it. Now, it's time to mail in. First in T-Pups and then wanted to trade back home to Houston. Job well-done. Dont forget to check the mailbox for paycheck on Thursday every 2 weeks.
Half of the problem is Adelman using him as a SG instead of a PG. The other half of the problem is just flat out on him for struggling with his shot. History suggests his shooting percentages will improve so i'm not worried in that regard.
where's the "he had a nice year in Houston, then a flash in the pan year in Toronto, got his contract and that was clearly a fluke and now he is getting old" option
I liked him better under JVG. He was more disciplined and he was a sparkplug off the bench. He has too much freedom now, so he chucks up stupid shots and misses.
He's been playing too selfish on offense and disappearing and missing assignments every other possession on defense. I used to be one of his biggest supporters on this board, but honestly I think we should call up Brooks back from the minors right now..
I said "like him before, not sure now". I really don't mind the way he plays on offense, other than him not making shots like he should. He's supposed to be an offensive-minded scorer off the bench. That's what we brought him in for. But the defense is a real disappointment. I don't remember him being this bad last time he was here, or maybe I just didn't pay as much attention back then. He makes too many mistakes on that end.
James is not a bad player. He just has a much higher opinion of himself than what he really is. Some people here thought he was really as good as he talked.
and people get labelled "Rafer Apologists" around here. How can you expend too much energy in 8-15 minutes a game?
