The only way we can win a championship with Yao is if we have a great supporting cast. He simply isn't good enough to carry a team. Hakeem, Duncan, and Shaq could carry mediocre teams, but not Yao. That's why we need a great supporting cast to cover up his deficiencies, but whether we can get one is the question.
Definitely, he's confiding too much to the media when he should be doing that with his coaches and teammates. It was very disappointing watching them struggle.. even worse was their body language. Coach A needs to pull this team together.. we still have a chance to do something big.
Yao has his physical and mental limitations, Yao is not good at basketball, but Yao cares. we can not say the same to 90% other rockets players.
Yao is a classic omega dog. The biggest thing a center can do is to have a presence in the paint. With Yao, you only get a shadow.
I remember, a couple of weeks ago, Yao said 'It's time for him to lead this team'! Why did he change so quickly?
Yao is my new favorite Rocket of all-time. It's not that he's a JVG loyalist like me it's that he just doesn't want a passionless coach who makes excuses about his team playing too many road games. This coming after two pathetic displays against weak eastern conference teams. That kind of attitude trickles down through the whole organization. The thing about JVG is as a die-hard fan of the Rockets you always new he was as passionate about the Rockets as you were, with Adelman, that's not the case. It's just not that big of deal. So why do we put in all this effort thinking about the Rockets when their head coach is ho-hum about it all. I'm not saying panic about the record but the lack of effort followed by the head coach excusing it for playing too many road games is a first. Yao is the man for showing his passion for the Rockets. Hell somebody has to. Props to the one Rocket who really gives a damn.
There's a pretty big difference between saying you give a damn, and showing you give a damn. The Yao that I've seen the past couple of games doesn't look like he gives a damn at all.
So if he scores 25 and 10 he gives a damn? thats not how it works, sorry. We KNOW what Yao Ming can do. Were you paying attention last year? We all saw it. Aside from a few missed offensive rebounds in the playoffs, Yao was superb. We've seen it. With the wrong coach who puts him in positions where he can't maximize his strengths, you get what you got with Yao the last two games. I know, but Bonzi and Francis, it's all so cute. Classy Clyde loves 'em too.
Totally agree. Those journalists are working in Houston only because of Yao. They have to write something on Yao, otherwise they would lose their job. So they try to write something special wither by making up a story or over-address some points. Don't be too serious about those articles, though some of them might provide some useful information. I don't think Yao's whinner. Instead, he's too quite on the court. He should shout at his teammates and show leadership.
That's not a correct attitude. If you post something here, you are responsible for the accuracy (in translation) and give a complete story. As you might know, these quotes only make sense in a certain context. I seriously doubt your motivation in doing only part of the translation, yet with such a mis-leading title. You are a troll, aren't you?
Pryuen, it might be good if you can start a new thread to clarify things up and put up a complete story. Actions should be taken to neutralize the mess created by bob's misleading thread. Thank you!
This article is pretty short. So I try to translate some relevant parts. Please point out if there's any mistranslation. Thanks. Again, don't 100% trust the article. Use your own judgement. Although Yao, who wasn't in good shape in the game agaisnt Sixers, was willing to breifly answer questions, he's apparently not in a good mood since Rockets have lost two consecutive games in a bad way. After Rockets lost the game to Raptors, Yao had said that that game is "the worst performance that he has ever had in his basketball career". Today (Rockets-Sixers game) Yao was very disappointed with the current situation of the team (my understanding, he implied that he was not only disappointed with his own performance but also with the whole team). “看看我们第四节都是什么人在打吧。我对现在球队的情况感到非常失望。”姚明说,“我现在的感觉就像是被交易到了一支新的球队,充满着陌生感。” "Look what players were playing out there in the forth quarter. I'm really disappointed with the current situation of the team." Yao said, " I'm feeling that I was traded to a new team, a team unfamilar to me. 刚说完这些话,姚明又怕记者误解,赶紧解释道:“我的意思不是说希望自己被交易啊,别理解错了。” Right after he had said that, he was afraid that journalists might misunderstand his words, he further explained, "I didn't mean that I hoped to be traded away, don't misundersand me." 姚明的解释虽然很及时,但本赛季球迷们已经不止一次从他口中听到对球队流露出的不满。即使是在赛季开始火箭6胜1负的时候,姚明也表示对现在火箭的打法很难适应。而如果火箭现在的这种低迷状况始终无法出现质的改观的话,内部矛盾迟早将会爆发。届时,姚明还会作出这样的解释么? While Yao's explanation was timely, it's not the first time in this season that fans heard his unsatisfactory words on the team. Even when Rockets was 6-1 at the beginning of the season, Yao felt that he was not comfortable with how the team played the game. If Rockets' current situation continues and doesn't significantly change, contridictory in the team will definitely explode sooner or later. Should that happen, would Yao have the same explanation?
Oh, he's been out the first round more than once, for sure. People forget his excellent, Clyde-based blazer teams -- they went to the finals twice I believe. He even made Kevin Duckworth look pretty good for a while. At Portland, he took over in 1988 after the Schuler guy (sp?) was fired. He coached the last 35 games, going 14-21. His first full season, he went 59-23, and overall, his Portland teams won more than they lost in the postseason. I'm not saying "he isn't the problem," but he's no slouch, historically. Much more success to his name than JVG.
