I was one of the few who wanted to re up JVG after going 17-7 w/o mac in the lineup......maybe more people appreciate defense now? we do have a lot of flip floppers though

People need to stop expecting Yao to dominate purely because he is 7'6. Here are some other 7'4 or taller guys that have played in the NBA, (Bol, Eaton, Smits, Muresan, Bradley, Podkolzine). Please tell me which one of them dominated down low even close to the level of Yao.

Yes, Yao is 7'6 and 310 pounds. But he is not a super athletic guy, so being that big makes him even slower. So yes, he will get dunked on, yes he will get his shot blocked, yes he will be out run by guys, but he is undoubtedly a great NBA center. Last year he averaged 25 and 10 and most likely could have again this year if the system hadnt changed.

He has his weaknesses, but so does everyone. Why cant Howard develop an outside game. He would be unstoppable. Why couldnt Shaq learn to hit free throws. He was the most dominant player in the world, and his own team couldnt have him on the floor at the end of close games. At 7'0, why cant dirk post people up down low and take it to the rim. Why cant Jason Kidd learn to shoot from outside. How would teams stop him if he could pull up and hit the three on a regular basis.

Yao is what he is. In the right system he is more valuable to his team then D. Howard or Amare. In the wrong system, like Adelman's, he is an above average player, not a star.
