In 90-91 Hakeem averaged 21.2 ppg. In 91-92 he averaged 21.6 ppg. Yet in 92-93 his ppg average jumped up to 26.1 and was followed by seasons in which he averaged 27.3, 27.8, and 26.9 ppg. The difference? Hakeem found Allah. Now, I'm an atheist, but I'm ready to try anything at this point. I say we kidnap McGrady and take him to a Mosque ASAP. I'll convert if he does. I mean Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Hakeem Olajawon, Muhammed Ali. Enough said. McGrady needs to become a Muslim immediately if the Rockets are going to have any chance at all. All praise be to Allah.
We need Kenny Smith, Clyde Drexler,Otis Thorpe, Vernon Maxwell, Sam Cassell, Robert Horry, Mario Elie...
why not yao? Mcgrade was already a scoring champion. it's yao who needs that extra edge! plus i'd like to see the reaction out of china... the biggest sports hero in chinese history turns muslim... lol
Hakeem had balls, heart, and intelligence to go along with his all-world talent. Not sure our two superstars have that.
That or Yao needs to get injured again so he can take time to figure out what he is doing wrong and come back like the beginning of the 5th season.(Its a joke guys calm down)
Here is Richard Justice reply about this topic in his sports blog updated tonight: http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2007/12/i_have_a_soluti.html I have a solution for fixing what's wrong with the Rockets. December 10, 2007 I have a solution for fixing what's wrong with the Rockets. I'd begin by giving Aaron Brooks a chance. He'd bring energy to a lifeless team. He can also shoot, penetrate and distribute the ball. I always guessed he'd be getting significant minutes by the playoffs, but with the others providing so little, let's speed up the timetable. The Rockets haven't looked like they cared much these last two games. They simply gave in to the fatigue. Sure, they were tired. NBA teams frequently are. On nights like this, the stars must provide something more. When Gary Kubiak called out Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans and Andre Johnson Saturday night, he told them they had to raise their own level of play and bring the others along. That's exactly what all three did. My enduring memory of the victory over Tampa Bay may have been Ryans limping between plays, then cranking it back up to go again when the ball was snapped. Tracy McGrady isn't doing this for the Rockets. He had a good first quarter Monday night in Philly, but when the Sixers applied some defensive pressure, he disappeared. He apparently suffered an ankle injury somewhere along the way. Stay tuned. The Rockets can only make something out of this season if McGrady is at his best. The Rockets are 11-11. This isn't a surprising record considering all the changes. They've had games when they looked every bit as good as they thought they'd look. They've had other games where they were absolutely awful. They made need tweaks besides Aaron Brooks. Luis Scola and Shane Battier give them the same effort every night. But some of the veterans--especially Mike James and Rafer Alston--have been wildly inconsistent. Whether they find their rhythm or whether more changes are needed is something that Daryl Morey and Rick Adelman have to keep a close eye. At this point, though, it's not unreasonable to think some changes are needed. I'd begin at point guard.
Sorry, Richard Justice is worthless as usual. Aaron Brooks? I like him, but this team has bigger problems. Thinking that a 5'8" rookie drafted at the bottom of the first round is the "answer" is just clueless and frankly, it's just boring reading.
That is just a small move to mix things up/ how he would begin to try and bring the "lifeless" squad some new energy. Could not hurt to give it a try after AB gets a few more games in with the NBDL Rio Grande Valley team.
