The Rockets players just arent playing with enough heart. Adlemans got to get them into more, but also the players need to take more responsibility. Tmac needs to spend all his energy helping this team become great instead of just getting by on his athleticism. I wasnt one of the people calling for Gundy to be fired, and I wont start calling for Adleman to be fired either. The players need to step up. Adleman is a good coach, this is proven. Just ask Clyde or Chris Webber or even Bonzi. ps- Yao is not Shaq and should not be playing like Shaq. Shaq couldnt hit a shot from more than 8 feet out, Yao can. Shaq was an extremely physical beast, Yao is not.
While I think patience is in order, I do have my doubts as to whether this team can effectively run a motion offense. To run such an offense effectively and consistently, I believe you need three things going for you: (1)discipline; (2) patience; and (3) trust in your other teamates. Discipline, I believe, is the main problem with this team; not "heart" or "talent". Discipline, or lack thereof, is what cost us the Dallas series. And now we are trying to integrate an offense, which above all, demands discipline. And for all that TMAC brings to the table, he is not a very "disciplined" player. When JVG got here, he was able to rein T-MAC in a little. It seems right now, T-MAC has been given the green light by Adleman. However, if Adleman wants to sucessfully integrate his offense and be sucessful here, he and Mac are going to have to come to terms. I think if he can make TMAC a more disciplined player, the sky is the limit for this team. On another note, I think the contrast in personality b/w JVG and Adleman will take some time getting used to. Case in point: after yesterday's thrashing, this quote was in the game recap article by Adleman: "We're on the road all the time," Adelman said. "It's a little bit different than being home. You've got a totally different atmosphere. We haven't been consistent in the way we've played." http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2007120928 Compare that to games last year when Mac and Yao both were out and JVG would be quoted saying "we have enought talent to win". Was it reality? - Hell no, but he said it. Which personality is better for this team? Who knows? Only time will tell.
So tell me why teams double Yao in low post but not in high post? It doesn't take a Shaq to play down low. Teams used to make a strong effort trying to push Yao out. Now Aldelman does that for them.
Like you guys talking here,I hate games going this way.and I can't read what is in RA's mind, even our players'. Are we taking Prinston? Are we wanna win every game? Can we get the final?even division final? NO. NO. NO. So what will we taking? where are we going?show us,please.
I don't think the main issue is with the coach. It is more related with our players, especially our 2 stars. I can sense the chemistry problem in the team. The issue with coach is that Adelman relys on T-Mac too much and Alston shouldn't be our starter this season.
Adelman is a better coach to encourage players. However, it is not a good excuse that we lost to a medicore team because we were in the road.
You're all class man. First alleging on this board, without any evidence, that Rudy T had "a serious drinking problem in LA", now making cracks about Adelman's son. What's next?
JVG may not be able to guide this team to championship, but rick adelman wont even guide this team into the playoffs
Good point; however, on some plays, Yao flashes into the paint from the high post to receive a pass directly in front of the basket. He never had that chance starting in the low box.
because if you double in the high post you leave someone wide open for a layup or a dunk under the basket. I blame Rafer.
This may be accurate, but what is the alternate to Alston. We saw last night why Alston has been starting. Is the offense good enough with Alston? NO. Is the offense better with Francis or James? NO. Alston is better defensively than any other point guard we have. Point guard is definately a problem, but unless Brooks is the answer it will have to come via trade. T-Mac is great, but he often reverses the momentum of a game by taking ill-advised shots. Yesterday's game was a perfect example. The offense was flowing, the momentum was all in the Rocket's favor, and, then T-Mac tries to apply the dagger with a quick 3-pointer from well behind the line. You could just see the game turning right then. Every time he does that Adelman should take him out and eat his ass out. If T-Mac can't figure it out, then it is time to seek a trade. A little off topic, but I think it was great to see Landry. This guy has loads of potential. I like that Adelman gave him a shot without an injury to somebody else. Something that would have never happened with JVG. I hope he follows it up again tonight. I like Hayes, but he is not a starter on a championship team. Let's find out about our rookies much quicker this year. How could Brooks doing any worse than James and Francis?
Maybe so, but it's funny that I never would have thought of 'disciplined' first when recollecting Adelman's Sacramento squads.
If Yao is blaming the coach, then he needs to take a good look in the mirror. And who cares about all the marketing and cash cow crap, playing the game is all that matters. Our coach isn't the one who can't hang on to the ball when he's wide open under the goal. Our coach isn't the guy who melts down when Tmac is out and the game is on the line. Our coach isn't the one who repeatedly lets other big men dunk in his face and does nothing about it. Our coach isn't the guy who his huffing and puffing, tried, barely making it down the court in the 4th quarter. Will, don't give me this BS about Yao Ming having the power to get the coach fired, that is nonsense, and as part of the CF.net staff, you should know better than to post such garbage.
It would take alot for Yao to even think of that. It's just not his character. But unless Les is in it just for the love of the game I would be willing to bet if Yao approached him with an ultimatum, "him or me" it would be him. The Rockets are the most popular team in the world for one reason only and it ain't any coach.
LOL. I apologize. I should never have implied that Yao Ming has the power to get Rick Adelman fired for nonperformance. Lord knows, if our team failed to get out of the first round, and the owner felt the need to throw somebody overboard, it would surely be Yao or McGrady, not the coach. Dingbat.
i've never hated a rockets coach like this before. i was pretty pissed when rudy t got sick and mr. mean coached us out of a playoff spot a few years ago--but even then, i was always supportive of whoever the rockets coach is. but rick adelman--every time i see his face, i think 'this is the guy that is ruining my favorite team'. he has no excuse. none. firing van gundy was a huge mistake--if you dont think we would have a better record right now with jvg, you're insane. i bit my tongue up until now thinking we just had a really tough opening schedule, but we have no more excuses. adelman is just atrocious. absolutely ****ing atrocious.
