Well the complexity of the offense may not be the problem but certainly game preparation is. How you prepare for other teams. How you run the defense. How you substitute. How you distribute the ball on offense. Now who is that on? Hmmmm.

it's right, I think we need to give SF a few more chance before we make any judgement!

It's a good point. I actually think SF is just lack of confidence. We need those confidence in Old Steve.

The weird thing of the game is, TMac rarely pass ball to SF3, SF3 was often wide open, and he should attack more to the rim!

it was disappointing to steve struggle with the defense bring the ball up court, but he was being pressured, and I didn't understand why no one came back to help when he was pressed. it was either mcgrady bring the ball himself with no help or francis by himself with no help.

francis has had this issue with the three point shot going on over a year in my opinion, he's totally lost confidence in it.

Exactly. Add Mike James to the list too. We need to give Brooks a try but thats not gonna happen.

Francis takes forever to bring the ball up and set up the offense. Its clear that Rafer is still the best option. Morey needs to make a trade or we will have to live with it.

If the other team is running a press or trap defense, then the other guys need to come back to bail out the pg. That's basic.

Unfortunately, thanks to Adelman barely playing Francis, I don't know if Francis will have an immediate impact.

You sure about that last statement, pgrabiel?

Francis shot 38% on 42/111 3pt shots last season. That is good for 2nd best 3pt % of any season in his career.

He also shot 83% on 175/211 free throws last season. That is good for the best free throw % of any season in his career.

In other words, I don't think it is a confidence issue or a decline in his shooting abilities.

genius, no one said rafer had better stats, rafer initiates the offense.......why dont you go look up how many pts yao and tmac put up with rafer on the floor as opposed to no rafer........and go look up how many assists the team has with rafer on the floor as oppposed to no rafer.

I found it very interesting and telling that while Aston played all 82 games last year and averaged 37.1 mpg, he only shot 177 free throws (barely over 2 per game).

Meanwhile, Francis played in only 44 games for the Knicks, averaging only 28.1 mpg, and shot 211 free throws (almost 5 per game).

The simple fact is that on a team like the Rockets that so desperately needs to drive to the hoop more often and more aggressively as well as get more trips to the free throw line, Francis is the answer over Alston.

Even if you consider the areas where Alston is better than Francis (ball-handling, getting the ball up the court, setting up the offense, getting the ball to Yao), I still think Francis will help us win more games and should be the starting PG. It is not like Francis is incapable of doing those things.

Francis is also better than Alston in several other areas (rebounding, penetrating and dishing, shot-blocking, leadership, energy, heart). He is also physically bigger and more of an overall offensive threat which would undoubtedly take more defensive pressure off T-Mac and Yao.

Last game was not enough time for Francis to get comfortable and prove himself worthy of taking over the starting job. I think Adelman needs to give him at least 10 games as the starting PG to see evidence that he is the superior PG for this team over Alston.

    RAFER ALSTON IS OUR SAVIOR!!

2 games so far with Francis out, our offense has been the worst I've seen in my life, Yao/Mac have terrible just awful games.

SKIP TO MY LOU WE NEED YOU!

don't tell me rafer is the reason we lost we still suck even with him in the lineup.
I think we need less selfish players T-Mac isn't gonna help if he launches 3's within .5 sec of getting the ball.

Please, if rafer's job is so easy why does francis need 10 games?? the moment francis or james shows a flash, you guys want them taking rafer's spot. and when they suck, you guys say they need more time.......this team cant even learn the offense in 22 games, and think in 10 games, francis is gonna be the PG.......

Rafer might not be the difference between winning or losing, but the other guards sure haven't done anything to show they deserve to be playing ahead of him.

based on this year our team is sour compared to last and if someone is going to get blamed it has to be the coach because he thinks the same lineup is going to win 50 games with a new system.
