Rookie battle - Scola vs. Yi
    (just for fun)

Scola's per 48 are starting to look good.
    17.8PPG 12.4RPG 2Ast 1.28Stl .51Blk 55.36FG%

    Yi's per 48 are diminishing
    17.7PPG 10.3RPG 1.2Ast 1Stl 1.98Blk 43.5FG%

Fantasy league players are now dropping Yi at a rate of 15% per week. Hopefully Yi will become something but it's looking like Scola is the real deal. Perhaps if he keeps showing hustle and such a high FG% he'll be awarded with even more minutes.

Just some thoughts. Your thoughts on how they are turning out relative to their hype?

Why do you have to compare Scola to Yi?

    Scola > Yi

He's almost like a Shane for us, except he is hitting his shots.

Scola will hit the wall eventually, even though he's not your average rookie. Just wait.

We don't. It's just for fun and they are both rookies playing the same position. Also something was made of the rookie matchup in the Buck's/Rockets matchup earlier in the year.

I haven't seen Yi play much, and I'm only slightly aware of how he's doing. But my impression isn't that he's hit the rookie wall. More like he had a few good games early which set his expectations even higher and has now settled down (not to mention the Bucks seem like a bunch of iso players). I doubt rookies hit the wall this early anyways, we're only 20 games in. Usually they have trouble past the all star break.

They are both having a decent-good game, Scola have the slight edge for now. But Scola have the luxury of playing with 2 UNSELFISH player that also happen to Superstar, and a GREAT coach.

The only "good" player on buck is Bogut, other then that, they are all scrub. Redd takes a billions shots with crappy FG%, and 99.9% of those are mid-long range jumpshot. And their coach is an idiot.

This was the best trade off we could have had. Once Scola gets more time he is going to be a great low post scorer for us when they lock Tracy and Yao down.

He can create his own shot and it's only a matter of time Hayes is gonna be on the bench after missing at least a couple layups a game.

I both like Yi and scola. But i really swear if Yi in rocket he will much better than now.Yi had less chance to show his ability in Bucks and he should gain more respect even in his rookie year.

The thing about Yi is that he is still young and can only get better. So much potential for this kid. The good thing about Scola is that he should be hitting his prime in the next couple of years so we're going to have him when he's at his best.

I won't be surprised if Yi is with the Rockets, he will not get the minutes that he is getting with the Bucks (a starter for Bucks). It is possibility that he will not be in the rotation.

Remember the old isolation and outside jumper days? That's the Bucks offense. Their players don't pass. Michael Redd, iso; Mo Williams, iso; Desmond Mason, iso; Bobby Simmons, iso; Charlie Villenueva, iso. Passing on that team involves getting trapped/drove into a wall with nowhere to go and hitting a wide open man you should have passed 10 seconds ago for an "assist." Put simply, Yi is not yet the type of one on one player to do well in that offense.

Scola, on the other hand, no matter can you whine and moan about our offense, actually gets the ball in his hands to do something. Of course, he does himself a huge favour by moving his feet. Yi does the same thing and isn't.

All said and done though, I'm very happy with Scola's performance. I defended him when he was playing like crap because I liked the things I saw. It was only a matter of time before he showed up in the stats.

If only we could combine Hayes' defense with Scola's offense.

    We would have Louisuck Hayola
