I hear ya. This one I ran basically because it was yellow and I was already out into the intersection. My bad. And $75 is way less than if a cop stopped you for the same thing. I don't believe you can take defensive driving to negate these red light cameras. They are revenue generators, pure and simple.
Whoa. Whoa. If you are already in the intersection when the light turns red, it isn't considered running a red light. ie. If you are fully past the white stripe that many intersections have.
Oh, I can't make threads, and figured I could vent a little here since someone else was. I wish there was some way I could give you those 3 minutes back.
I've seen those thing flash when the car is already in the intersection and the light turns red, i think they just go by movement when light turns red. That Hillcroft/59 intersection is fully decked with cameras, one on the lights, one shooting towards car, one shooting from the back. Then you got cops hiding out usually in the uturns under 59, that intersection is revenue for the pigs. Anybody ever used those sprays on their plate?
Don't know what to tell you homey. My lawyer charges me $60 to fight this crap. This one doesn't go on my record. For an extra $15 I can be done with it.
these things don't go on your record like speeding tickets and such do? if not, then i can handle a $75 hit no problem (well not no problem, but it's not a big deal). i just don't wanna deal with defensive driving and all that other crap. and even though i think the law mentions drivers who "proceed" into the intersection when the light is red, i'm guessing it applies even if you're already in there when the light turns red (even though you can't proceed into it if you're already there). i'm often just about to finish going through an intersection when it turns red (especially downtown where you can only go 30 mph and the streets are fairly wide and take a while to cross) but i never enter after a light turns red. as for rolling through a red, that's practically that the foundation of western civilization. if they take that away, what will be left?
I had one here in Plano flash twice @ me, and we were stopped the whole time... idk if I'll get one, or why?
This is not directed at you specifically RTex, but anyone trying to justify running red lights, and admitting to purposely running them, deserves more than a ticket. I think the city should post those red light ticket photos on the web and in the newspaper. Maybe reserve a front row seat to the funeral of the family member that their disregard of the law may cause.
I'm glad they don't have these in my city. Not that I purposely run red lights but sometimes you go on a yellow that turns red.
Did he used to be a pastor? And then a private detective? I think I know that guy, didn't know he was a lawyer.
I hear ya. I didn't run mine on purpose, nor am I trying to justify it. I *****ed up, so I get to pay the city $75. I'm prolly gonna wait until the day before the due date to send it in, however.
