Ok, don't know if any of you know anything about the costs of dentistry, but I have a question. Years ago, my front two teeth were broken in an unfortunate waterslide accident (yeah, seriously). I had root canals on both and had the broken portions of the teeth replaced with porcelain veneers. Over the years, they started to yellow and they don't whiten from what I've read so I need to have them replaced. It's nothing I can't live with, but it would be nice to get them fixed. I have the good fortune of being in a family where NO ONE gets cavities - something about really hard enamel. So, I don't go to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned very often. Any ideas what it might cost to have these things replaced? Thoughts?
This is just a guess, but I had some bonding done to my front teeth about 4 years ago and it ran about $200 a tooth. Dentists are like everything else...you CAN shop around. There are too many not to. Also, if they are going to charge you for the initial evaluation, don't go.
If it's too much, you can always negotiate with the dentist <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GQLUXliuXug&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GQLUXliuXug&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I know that crowns can cost a lot and the dental insurance usually pays 50% but that still runs you close to $500 to $1000. As for bonding, $200 sounds about right but with insurance it could be cheaper.
I haven't had veneers, but I'm fairly certain they'll be way more than bonding. But I agree, shop around.. I'm guessing you're looking at a high price tag for replacement veneers more in the range of what Manny suggested.
Jeff I have a great dentist that is right off TC Jester that I've been going to forever. He is very inexpensive (but good) and they give me a good price on my wife and kids dental since they don't have insurance. email me if you want his info
Jeff, my 2 sisters-in-law, brother, and mother are all dental assistants. I'd recommend Dr. Edith M Salinas, on Gulfton (or is it Fournace) and Chimney Rock, where my sister-in-law works, for good work on your teeth. She's less expensive than most DDS's and has been recognized by Houston Magazine for her work locally and with Katrina patients. She did a lot of volunteer work at that time. 713-665-bite . I am sure you will pay less there than at most places. If you have insurance, it's much better. My daughters have their bi-yearly checkups done there.
My uncle is a dentist and he overcharges me, millionaire sonofabitch. I think I'm going to have to shop around for a dentist too for the first time in my life
Unfortunately, I have no dental insurance. Thanks for all the references, guys. I'll definitely be making some calls.
Jeff, This is a prime opportunity to make a real statement with metal and/or jeweled implants, or dare I suggest? ...
