Soften it up a bit? The last thing this team needs is soft. He's talking about 30 minutes. Practice. We're getting all wound up over 30 minutes of practice?

there is no such thing as "optional" where the team is concerned. you go through everything as a team. if you dont want to put in the work everyone else is in order to win gtfo off the team

it's like in high school, and your team captain organizes "optional" workouts for the squad during the offseason, only the losers who dont care about winning and dont want to be on the squad dont show up. sure you can workout on your own but any team that's worth anything will work together... help the weaker ones stay motivated and build teamwork for the season

tmac and yao are extending a hand to the scrubs so they can work on their game... in the end it's only going to help the team AND help the role players have better seasons. some asshat not showing up because it's "EXTRA"... well that encapsulates the problem with the team right there now doesnt it

Well we know one person will not be heading any Fortune 500 companies anytime soon. Hell, I wouldn't let this guy manage a vending machine.

T-Mac doesn't need more practice? He definitly needs. I don't feel he works hard enough. Look at his free throw. Horrible. For his type of player, there is no excuse to shoot poor percentage on FT. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE.

His jumpers? I am scared when he takes jumpers. His jumpers is not consistent. When game is on the line, you want the ball in his hand? Probably he will be the choice in this team. But is his driving and finishing strong enough? Will he make the free throw if he is fouled?

Show up in the 4th? Go check out how many times Tmac has scored in double digits or close to double digits in the 4th when his team is fighting for a victory.

And abc2007, are you even on the same page? You keep arguing about how Tmac and Yao should create more for roleplayers, when the big two has ALREADY been doing that! What do you want them to do? Keep creating open shots for the likes of Battier, Alston et al who'll just keep on missing the shots? That's like saying if an approach you're using to tackle a problem is failing, you just have to keep trying harder at that approach and eventually it'll work. Well hello, do you even have an ounce of logic behind what you're saying?

    Seriously...

I think Tmac and Yao should do a better job because I have high expectation for them, and I believe they are able to do that! This is optimism!

I think all fans who think Tmac and Yao have done their best and cannot be improved are pessimistic!

Yao is simply saying: join me, follow me.

Yao isn't giving out orders, he isn't calling anyone out. He's just preaching what what he does.

i can see now that no amount of extra practice will make rafer a better shooter... at this point it's all mental and he needs to get his head in the game

Like others have posted before, it'd be interesting to know who shows up early and stays late, to know who's really responding.

Here's something about my favorite player of all time from http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060407:

I think he has every right to be calling out his teamates, when we're carrening towards .500 and none of them are shooting 40% for the season. I think its perfectly reasonable to ask a bunch of milioniares to put in extra effort during the six months out of the year when they actually work. This is what good teams do, as far as I'm concerned its terrible that he even has to ask through the media.

Last night's game proved that not everyone needs to hit on all cylinders to win, but we have to have at least three or four every night to step up and knock down shots, and keep the defense honest. Scola is responding, Bonzi isn't a shooter per se, but he stayed aggressive all game and kept Memphis on their heals everytime they tried to make a run.

When the team is losing because the teammates are lazy, there is no chemistry to talk about.

Absolutely there is a difference if you practice more every day.

yeah it's godamn right that players should not be FORCED to practice, but come on, if you failed to do your job, then get you butt in the gym and do EXTRA practice is a SHOULD. you won't go to prison if you don't but you will go to the BENCH, dumb "can't hit open shots/layups"ass :D
