You would think an uptempo team like GS, Phoenix, NJ, Toronto or somebody else along those lines would be able to disguise a guy like Luther Head in their rotation and not miss a beat.

He could kill teams with his three point shooting in a run-and-gun system.

I can't think of a team in the league that would covet Rafer or Hayes.

I hope Pax and Skiles agree with your assessment. I certainly do not.

I've said it in another thread, and here it is again. The most logical trade right now would be Bonzi and Mike James for Corey Maggette.

The Clips are in desperate need for a point guard and people who can help Kaman put points on the board. Given Maggette's history with Coach Dunleavy, he could be pried away with a 2-for-1 deal of Mike James and Bonzi. One gives them a point guard who can score like Cassell, and the other gives them a power guard who can score in the post and provide rebounding help.

In fact, I think we would shave a little bit off our team payroll with this trade too.

If Bonzi doesn't work, Kirk Snyder would be a solid addition for them too. It's just that Bonzi's contract is expiring and given how long Brand is likely to be out, they can tank this year and get a high draft pick the next and make their playoff push then.

We solve our athleticism and 3rd scorer problem, they solve their point guard problem while not losing out on scoring ability all that much. Win-Win for both teams.

Francis could be a nice fit for the celtics.

I'd take out Bonzi, and put Landry and Snyder in his place. Technically:

    MJ, Snyder, Landry = Maggette

A fair trade, talent wise, IMO; though I'm not sure about the salaries.

Rafer + Luther + 2nd Round pick could be an attractive package.

Rafer + Snyder + 1st Round pick could be an attractive package.

I think we should trade Alston+picks to our most hated division rivals for peanuts. :D

How about Rafer+Luther+picks for Magette, since they are so desperate. I mean I m not much a big fan of wells, but we do need to save him for spurs just in case we go that far.

    brainstorming:

kaman, maggette, sam for yao and role players

    bynum, odom for yao.

yi jianlian, bogout and role players for yao.

areans and role players for tmac.

kevin martin and ron artest for tmac.

shawn marion and barbosa for tmac.

    ----
conclusion: no one other than yao and tmac are wanted by any nba teams through trade unless yao and tmac are involved in the trade :D

Doesn't work. I'm not sure of the exact figures of Maggette's salary, but any trade for him would have to involve someone who makes at least the MLE on our team, plus fillers. James works on a business standpoint because he can give them scoring and playmaking at the 1 spot, which they sorely lack. Rafer gives them playmaking and nothing else that they don't already have.

The reason why Bonzi will probably have more appeal is because of his expiring contract. Essentially, he'd be a one-year rental for the Clips. If they think they have a chance to resign him after this, then Wells makes all the more sense as he's a proven vet. Coupled with next year's draft, which is slated to be quite deep, they have a chance to retool and get back into playoff contention with Elton Brand back and Kaman's resurgence.

How long is Snyder's contract? If it's an expiring, it might work too.

I did a quick check, and any other contract on top of MJ's and Wells'/Snyder's would break the trade. We could give them a late first-rounder if talent is an issue. But with Mike James and Wells, Maggette's scoring is replaced anyway.

Of course, there's the iffy idea of trading a consistent performer in Corey for two inconsistent talents in James and Wells, but I think this is something that both teams' GMs should look into. It's a win-win scenario for both teams.

I believe Maggette would be a great fit here. If he was with Houston it would allow TMac to move back to the 3 and give the Rockets another scorer. I also think the Clips are trying to deal him (as opposed to risk losing him for nothing), and the Rockets might be able to get him relatively cheaply. I agree with wingz0's analysis above, but I wouldn't want to give-up James and/or Bonzi.

I would be more than willing to give up any combination of the following players: Brooks, Novak, Battier, Alston, Snyder, Head, and/or a 1st round draft pick.

If Morey called the Clips GM and offered any combination of the those players and a draft pick would it be enough to get Maggette?

Alston & Battier for Maggette & Aaron Williams. Williams is an expiring contract that makes the deal work. Clippers get two starters from a WC playoff team for a single player. Battier replaces Maggette, Rafer is Sam's replacement.

What do you think the chances are of Battier getting traded?

I really think Maggette would put the Rockets over the top. They would become an elite team and a title contender.

That must have been why he got all those offers in free agency. You know, like the one from ... the rockets ... and ... yeah.

At Chuck's salary vs what he brings he would absolutely be coveted IMHO. It doesn't suggest what players and/or picks he would bring back, tho.
