My wife and grandmother are going to get me a recliner for Christmas. Any recommendations? I'd like to keep the price at or under $1k.

    Thanks in advance.

Get a Lazy Boy brand recliner. I went cheap a few years ago and bought my recliners at Gallery. They are total crap compared to my parents' lazy boys.

I worked in a lazy-boy gallery for a year and a half and I can tell you that you'll be happy with almost any recliner you get. They are awesome. If you're looking at leather, they have some Leathers that start at around 400 for the "Leather Finesse" which is the marketing term for Leather only where your body touches the chair, polyester everywhere else. Bomberjacket leather is exceptional, but that might be slightly out of the price range. Also it really depends on how big you are, They make a vast array of chairs for petite up to hefty so it is probably very important that you go in and make sure the chair is the right size for you. Improper alignment of the chair could hinder your back, but the right fit will put you in heaven. :)

I had pretty much decided to go quality with this chair. I learned my lesson with cheap furniture several years ago.

Thanks! I was leaning towards La-z-boy. My grandmother is high on them and bought a new living room from them recently. She bought the chair-and-a-half which my wife and I comfortably sat in together. I was pretty enamored with this chair but I didn't ask how much it cost her. I really want to avoid a day of shopping if possible.

I'm fine with the recliner not being leather. In fact, my sofa and loveseat are microfiber and look as good as the day I bought them five years ago. They've been through wild parties and a two year old climbing, bouncing and puking on them, so I'm pretty sold on the material.

That's pretty effing awesome. I don't think it would fly with our deco though. I'll definitely remember this when we get a bigger house down the road.

I went and looked at some recliners at La-z-boy Saturday. These things are super comfy...but most of them are ugly as hell. I'm not ruling them out, but...Anyone have any good luck with any other manufacturers?
