I am sorry but how the hell did Stockton make the All-Star team over Francis?!

Stockton has paid his dues, and that counts for a lot in the NBA. Plus, let's face, the Jazz has one of the best records in the league. Case closed. Francis will probably be the starter for years to come.

So will Karl get replaced by someone else? I remember a few years ago when Charles was hurt but got picked for the All-Star team he sat on the bench telling the guys to try harder cuz he needed the extra money that the winners got.

"I've been to about 10 of them - only liked it once, 1997 for the NBA @ 50 celebration."

What I wouldn't give to go to just one, and you're complaining about having been to ten? Amazing.

Flopton did not deserve to be on that all star team point blank no arguements. The only team he should be on is all cheaters team along with that idiot Karla Elbone. Terrell Brandon and Avery Johnson deserved to be on that team over that cheap shot artist. Avery Johnson has the same numbers as flopton and his team is winning so I do not want to hear this nonsense that flopton deserves it. The only thing he deserves is a sharp elbow to his mouth piece like he has been doing all these years. Stockton is a disgrace to the game!

    Jenna....

To think it only took Malone 4 years to figure out how to fake an injury.

    Figures.

It should have been a no brainer, Terrel Brandon. Guess some people are lacking in brains that decide these things, just like last year with TD not winning the MVP. Unfathomable, again!

Don't worry, Pippen isn't close to an All-Star. I would guess Shareef Abdur-Rahim or possibly Antonio Mcdyess would replace Malone. As for Stockton, he is not even close to better than Francis. The only reason he made it is because of his name and being a veteran. Look what the East did with Dale Davis. Is his talent and stats near as good as Elton Brand's or Antoine Walker's? No. But he made it over both. And lets not forget Francis still has a somewhat bad rep around the NBA for wanting out of Vancouver. Not even mentioning he's a rookie. Francis will make many All-Star games. Don't worry- he'll have plenty of shots at this game. If anything, this might fire Stevie up more- he might want to go out and show everyone he deserved to be an All-Star.

    Who cares?

The All-Star game is a complete waste of time...it's a joke. You got guys like Rod Strickland (back when he was with Portland), putting up 19 and 9, every year, carrying his sorry-ass team to the playoffs, not make the All-Star team. It's a complete joke...a waste of time, hell, Sam Cassell got left off this year, and he's unarguably the best point guard in the Eastern Conference right now. Atleast the reserves are fair because people (the coaches) who actually know what the hell has been going on do the voting. The starter selections are a joke. Kobe Bryant is starting over Gary Payton...ridiculous.

Stock was given the nod for everything he's done in his career - it's not just based on this season in his case. I've watched him for a long, long time - this guy deserves to be there just because he is John Stockton.

Honestly, I think he was chosen because the coaches had to go and piss off Karl by picking him (he really wanted a free weekend for once), so they gave him his little buddy to make him slightly happier.

Major reason Francis really didn't have much of a shot: he's a rookie. There is a game specifically for rookies, and as you know, Steve will be there. Actually, the fact that Steve will be sitting in the stands watching the All-Star Game might provide just a little more motivation....

I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS THIS........ IF YOU ARE A ROOKIE YOU CAN ONLY GET PICKED IN THE ACTUAL ALL_STAR GAME IF YOU GET VOTED IN TO THE STARTERS.... YOU CANNOT MAKE IT ANY OTHER WAY!!!!

just an example... if tim duncan made the allstar game when he was a rookie, it was because he got enough votes to be a starter.

i hope i have clarified something for alll of you!

You think that's ridiculous? Back in '98 Kobe was named the starter while he wasn't good enough to start on his own team.

Who was the last rookie to play in the actual All-Star Game? Tim Duncan?

Cabbage, Strickland is not the best point in the East right now, not even close. The most glaring non-addition to the All-Star team this year is undoubtedly Sam Cassell. Look at the stats. He's the best point guard in the Eastern Conference -- 18.5 pts, 9.4 assists, 45.4% fg, 3.9 rebs, and 88.3% ft. Not a single point guard was named to the Eastern squad. Reggie Miller was selected, and he was washed up 3 years ago, along with Jerry Brickhouse, who plays 2nd-fiddle on a sub-.500 team. Sam was undoubtedly hurt by the fact that two Bucks were already chosen, Allen and Robinson, who are also having great years.

Forget it, Freak! Most of the voters just voted for those so-called popular stars, like Reggie and Kobe. They rarely look at the stat that close as you do. [IMG]

Am I missing something with all these posts.

Freak: I think Cabbage does say that Cassell is probably the best point guard right now. He only talked about Strickland being shafted by the All-Star game back in his prime, not right now.

And whoever said rookies cannot make the All-Star game unless they start is awfully wrong. Tim Duncan did make the All-Star team in his rookie year as a reserve. So did Akeem back in 85.

And there is a precedent for a bench player making the all-star team. Detlef used to make all-star teams all the time when he was in Indiana, and he never started. But he definately deserved it. The best players on a team don't always start. Kobe making it in his second year did not deserve it though.

Well, don't rule out Karl for the All-Star Game quite yet.

It seems the league is now threatening suspension (up to 3 games) and fines (up to $25,000) if Karl doesn't show.

He's not going to take that kind of hit. To Oakland it may be....
