Wow, I'm losing respect for Briles each day.

    1) First he bails for Baylor (of all places) just before a Bowl game.

    2) Takes two of our offensive coordinators (again just before a bowl game).

    3) The lastest he is stealing our recruits

I hope he is happy as a Branch Davidian.

He is taking his staff with him, and players he recruited want to follow the coach to whom they committed to his new job.

    Shocking and scandalous.

    wow, call the President!

Briles is taking coaches he is comfortable with and recruits are following him to Waco!

In other news, the sky is blue.

But seriously, before UH's bowl game? That's a sh!tty thing to do right there. He could have easily taken them after the game but no, he has to leave UH even more shorthanded.

Furthermore, UH is probably going to get creamed in the Texas Bowl now. The three guys who are most familier with Briles' "no playbook offense" are gone. Again, coaches Clements and Montgomery could have left after the bowl game but they left UH high and dry. If they want to leave, fine. Just don't throw they team you've been coaching the past few years under the bus in the process.

If anything, it's a good thing for UH if there is an asst. coach who they want to hire as it gives them a month of practice and a bowl game to serve as a litmus test.

What benefit does UH have with a lame duck coach for what is a useless bowl game?

Briles would be too focused on recruiting for Baylor to make it worthwhile for UH. This isn't fair to both UH and Baylor, yet he's a bad guy for not doing this?

1)UH is not going to pull a Cecil Cooper and hire Thurmond as coach. Thurmond coaches cornerbacks and UH isn't exactly known for their defense. The 3 guys who know what's going on with Briles' unconventional offense are gone and so is (probably) UH's explosive offense.

2)I'm fine with Briles leaving after he accepted the Baylor offer. But there was no need for the other 2 offensive coordinators to bolt before the bowl game.

3)What's in it for UH? A bowl win. It's been how long since UH won a bowl game? But yeah, that doesn't matter to recruits AT ALL!

Clement and Montgomery wanted to stay and coach the Texas Bowl, but they've already been hired by Baylor. Dave Maggard decided that these guys shouldn't be getting paid by two schools at the same time so he went ahead and told them not to bother. They didn't exactly leave the players high and dry but why allow them in a bowl game when they're on Baylor's dime.

Then the question is why couldn't an agreement be put into place to hire them as soon as the bowl game concludes? Doesn't seem too difficult.

I think they wanted to stay on UH's dime until after the bowl game. Maddard let them go because basically they were going to be recruiting for Baylor and have UH pay for it.

    Really ?

Our baseball team has been solid for years. The womens basketball team won a championship recently.

Our tennis team won a championship also not too long ago.

Our mens basketball team is 6-1 and lost to the sixth ranked team at the time by only 3 pts (up by 10 at halftime)

Jeremy Warner won 2 gold metals for the US while I was there. He was the anchor for the relay team that won gold and another Baylor student ran the third leg.

We are terrible at football but not everything. The facilities are really nice and the campus has had a major overhaul.

    Right.

You wait until after the bowl, and Briles will not be able to recruit for his new team. You can't just tell recruits that they don't have a coordinator. You can't tell them who the coordinators are going to be until the transfer is done, because that would be tampering.

I like UH as well as the next guy (my dad went to college there and I went to law school there)...but damn...this is just nuts.

 Didn't UH win the conference last year, and 8-4 is not too shabby this season.

Seeing how there's like 40 bowl games now, winning a bowl game really doesn't mean much, especially when it's the Texas Bowl. A BCS bowl, yes...

Because Briles would be doing 70% of his work for Baylor instead of UH while being contracted with UH. It doesn't make sense for both parties for him to lame duck it.

Well it doesn't make much sense to his former players and the fans to leave the team high and dry right before a bowl.
