I have heard of that. Carter was not the one that screwed that up. That began when the U.S. supported the Shah of Iran in the first place.

Wow really? That is amazing not only that Bloomberg would run but that Hagel is would leave the Republican party.

This is my dream ticket if it happens. I don't know that it could win the electoral college, but it does throw the election into complete disarray.

If Clinton & Guiliani win the nominations, I have no idea who wins NY in that 3-way race of New Yorkers!

I forgot to add - this puts the entire country in play, basically. Bloomberg/Hagel steals from middle rather than from the far-left or far-right. So every state that's within maybe 5-10% suddenly potentially goes up for grabs by all 3 campaigns because you no longer need a 50% majority to win. The GOP could win California or the Dem could win Florida 40-30-30, for example.

That's what I was going to say. depending on who the nominees are from each party, it could take voters from both parties.

I'd heard that a couple of days ago... only with the ticket looking like Hagel-Bloomberg, which is, I think, the only way it could go.

I was a lifelong Republican, but jumped ship and even contributed to the Democratic Party after GW's first debacle.

I never thought I'd be there after the Democrat legislators openly supported a President's perjury because polls said they could, but that's how bad GW has been for this nation.

    Go get'm Obama.

And problems with the middle east existed long before Reagan too. So what?

Carter didn't screw that up? Maybe he wasn't solely responsible for creating US hatred in Iran, but his handling of the situation was completely his fault. (the failed rescue attempt etc etc etc.) That only ended on the day Reagan was sworn into office because he promised to blast Iran farther back into the stone age if they didn't comply.

Really? That's not what I recall. Please provide some facts other than right-wing mythology that support your statement.

Carter was the one who caused the military chopper to crash? That was Carter's fault?

Reagan funded and armed groups in Afghanistan which went on to be involved with the Taliban, and Al-Qaeda, He not only dealt with terrorists in the middle east he supplied them with weapons. He befriended Saddam Hussein, and made it possible for him consolidate power, and work on WMD's with materials that were in part supplied by the U.S.

Reagan talked tough, but was far softer on governments and supporters of tyranny and terror in the middle east.

I do agree there were problems in the middle east that were existed long before Reagan came to office. He didn't create them, just handeled them poorly.

With all due and utmost respect...

Anyone that belongs to any political party is a complete idiot. Anyone who votes according to their membership to any political party is a freakin robot.

    Again, with all due respect.
