I haven't watched him play at all, but I have been keeping track of his stat line and they are very decent. His shooting percentage is about 50% and foul shot is about 80%. He scores less than Yao but he is a better rebounder. Have anyone been following the clippers this season? How well does Kaman really play?
Seen him a few times and he's been the Energizer Bunny. I despised him when his play dropped after signing the big contract last year. But I give him major props now for leaving it all out on the floor so far this season. Didn't see any of the game today, but 22/22 is sick under any circumstances. As mentioned in another thread, I wonder what his production will be over the course of the long season. That will tell the tale.
I have Kaman on my fantasy basketball team, and he's absolutely amazing. With Brand out, Kaman became the 1st option for clippers on most nights. After watching a few of his games, he seemed to have improved his offensive game a lot. He was able to knock down 10-12 ft jumpers and attack the basket well. The few games that I watched, Kaman kind of reminded me of Yao. Of course, Kaman is more athletic and agile, while Yao is better shooter and more consistent overall.
I really hope the title of this thread is just satire in reference to the other "best center in the world" threads. But yeah, Beetlejuice has been impressive this year. He was absolutely dreadful last year and up to this point he has literally doubled his numbers from last year. I guess Brand getting seriously injured was the best possible thing that could have happened to his career, as weird as that seems. I wonder how those two will mesh whenever Brand returns.
The thread title is straight out of the clipper announcers' mouth. They were making this case the whole game, and I am impressed with his increased rebounds and newly found offensive mid-range. Ultimately, I think his numbers owe everything to Brand's absence, and when Elton returns his numbers will likely be closer to par. Not the best center in the world, but playing well. Good for him.
I would actually put Kaman behind Yao and Howard, but ahead of Big Z. I have seen a lot of Clipper games and Kaman plays like a madman out there. He has really stepped it up with Brand out.
yao and howard are both clearly much better but he's probably right behind them at least this season.
