Any Given Sunday It is amazing to me. . . more and more I realize the only difference between Good teams and Bad teams is Bad Teams kill themselves Discipline is Key . . . .Mental Mistakes . . . Self Inflicted wounds The Texans have the tools IMO Rocket River
While it physically makes me ill to lose to the likes of Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans, I guess I will try to show a modicum of good sportsmanship and congratulate the assorted Longhorn, Vince and Titans fans who were pleased by the results.
Even thought the OL gave up more pressure than they should have, it's still quantum leaps above last year... and the one before that... and the one before that... It's just the critical moments when it kills the game... or gets your QB hurt... again...
Thanks....It sucks to see the Texans get so banged up. I've really liked what I've seen of Schaub this year when they've been able to keep him upright, and I think the zone blocking scheme works, even with the scrap heap running backs the Texans use. What is obvious is they don't have anywhere near the necessary depth to deal with injuries, especially to the o-line, secondary and wr's. I think there was some progress this year, though the end record may not reflect it. With that said, I think it was also obvious how important Haynesworth is to the Titans D. They still aren't an elite D, but he really helps anchor their run defense. As someone said before, if Pac Man could get his head on straight, he'd really help hone their secondary, and Griffin could be a developing nickel back. About VY- he's looked better in recent weeks, but he still has a ways to go. They do need an upgrade in the WR department, but I think Gage and Roydell are becoming serviceable, if not great, or even good. I wish VY would run more....He's kinda tried to focus much more on throwing the ball, probably to prove he can be an NFL caliber qb. However, I think if he were to run more, especially early in games, it would help make defenses account for that more, and possibly open up the passing game later in games. For people who do want to discuss passer rating, it does kinda stink that it never takes into account QB rushing yards and TD's, which count the same as anyone else's yards. Imagine how that would've affected QB ratings for people like Cunningham, Elway, and Steve Young (who already had a phenomenal rating?) But, with that said, VY hasn't run as much this year anyway. Regardless, interesting game, and as a Titan fan, I'd like them to make the playoffs this year, though I really don't see them making much noise if they do. Who knows- a good running game and solid D can take you far in the playoffs if you get turnovers. It'll be interesting to see how both teams draft in April.
that was classty. I am an anomaly. I am a VY fan, a Titans fan, but no so much a UT fan anymore. I like them and want them to win but they are borderline 'just another team' to me. All about Boise now baby.
To be honest i cant even think of anything to put in your sig worthwhile to make fun of the texans, they do enough to themselves. consider yourself off the hook
Wow! Could anyone be more arrogant! Even IF the Titans make the playoffs, enjoy your one and out. Congrats on earning the "Jerk of the year award!" I know ... like you care. Bla bla bla.
The Cleveland Browns are going to the playoffs. Their last four opponents are the Jets, Bills, Bengals, and 49ers.
I agree its a very easy schedule for browns. but I do believe the titans control their own destiny (win tie breaker) big test this wknd against san diego. then KC, Jets and INdy (who might not be playing their starters at this point) im still not convinced titans are any better than they were when they lost 3 in a row. i do think the team has exceeded my initial predictiions before the season started. curious to see if they can finish it out the way they finished last year.
http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures Here are the tiebreakers. For the wild card, if it came down to Cleveland Vs. Tennessee, the first applicable tiebreaker would be conference record. Right now, Cleveland is 5-4 in the AFC while Tennessee is 4-4. I think that after that, it goes to record vs. common opponents.
Right now the common opponents are Hou, Cin, & Oak. Tenn is 3-1 with NYJ left, Cleve is 2-1 with at Cincy and NYJ left. After that strength of victory comes in. Tenn will almost surely have an edge here, right now their wins are against teams with 7 more wins than Cleve does, and Tenn's opponents the rest of the way have a better record for the most part. So in a nutshell, barring a Tenn collapose at home to the NJJ--Cleve probably needs a better overall record or better conference record to be ahead if they are even in record. Seven of their remaining 8 games are against conference opponents, so only way the better conference record comes in is if Cleveland loses to SF where Tenn picks up an extra conference loss (play SD, @KC, NYJ, @ Indy). All I can say is go J-E-T-S, Bills, Cincy and 4whiners (Cleve opponents, 1st and 3rd away). Another factor is hopefully Indy has nothing to play for the last week--if NE or JVille beat Pittsburgh inthe next 2 weeks it is likely this will be the case because Indy plays softies untill Tenn--Dungy historically rests guys in that situation. These events are critical, for one, it improves Tenn's chances to make the playoffs. Second, and most importantly, it improves the Boys draft position next year because they owe us a #1 for Quinn. So all good Texans (as it State of Of persons, not a city's football team's name), scratch that, all good Americans (with forgiveness of those sins for within Cleveland city limits) should route for the Browns downfall.
Whatever dude. That was flat being condescending and you know it! You could have phrased your retort differently and I think that was more by design than by default. Like I said enjoy your possible "one and done!"
I know this post is late but I drove down for the game from Little Rock .. it was a long drive and was hoping a win but it was fun. That fumble in which the Titans proceeded to score really killed us. As well as losing Schaub.. hope it aint a habit. Met some really diehard titans fans .. told them we were coming to see the Oilers.. The stadium was kinda generic.. no real feeling to the place. Speaking of Oilers thought you guys might get a kick out of this...
