With our current standing and way of play, we're not going to the playoffs right now..What do you guys think Morey is doing these days? Does he have a move to be made under his sleeve? It's really depressing right now...but hope is still there..
I think morey is gonna give this team till the allstar break before making any rash decisions. facts We have a new coch New offense to learn We have had the toughest scheduel in the league. infact the rockets opening scheduel is the toughest we've faced in years. who plays the spus 2 times, the mavs 2 times, the suns 2 times and a mavs warrior back to back road trip. i know thats no excuse for losing to the kings or memphis, but lets face it, give our bruital scheduel to anyteam and they would struggle to have a 600% record after that. we've also played 11 of our first 18 games on the ROAD. Consider we missed our best player in the spurs and suns game. Considering all that, i'm still very optimistic about our chances when things start falling into places. i think once yao starts shooting the ball a little quicker against defensive sets like Collapse D, he will be even better and more comfy under adelman.
If Morey and Les are smart, they will have a sit down with the coach and tell him that the first thing that is going to happen is that he is going to change the starting lineup and his rotations. They have to let him know that they didn't bring in all the new players to barely play off the bench in to be put in terrible positions. The only way to effectively evaluate this team by the Allstar Break is to use your best weapons now to let them gain some chemistry and then see what is needed to get over the hump. We already know what this starting lineup gives us, and playing our bench players under Adelman's ineffective ability to incorporate the offensive to their skills, and instead making the players try fit his offensive; is not going to work!
That would be a BIG part of solving our problems, but if Rick Adelman doesn't do any better as a coach as Wafer is doing as our starting point guard, then we still won't win consistently or in the playoffs.
I remember Morey making a comment that alot of players cannot be traded until Dec 15th. I am thinking we have another 2 weeks before you will see any player movement. We have got to add some guys that are shooters. As much as people bang on Yao and Tmac, the other guys are letting us down. SF has played very well in his limited time and I look for him to get better, Scola looks great, MJ is a chucker plain and simple, Alston is playing very poorly, and Battier's shooting has been very inconsistent. Hayes is Hayes I don't know what else to say he brings some things to the table but scoring is not one them. Wells is shooting poorly. I would like to see what AB can do even if it is in blow outs. I would also like to see Head at the 2 a little more as he can stroke the 3.
I think players that might be moved include: Battier Wells James Head Alston Landry Novak Hayes I think any of those players are available if the right deal comes along. DD
i am kind of glad we are facing adversity this early in the season. last year, we faced practically zero adversity. we beat the bad teams, and lost to the good teams. now that we're facing adversity, combined with adelman's untapped offense, there's nowhere to go but up. this team has a much higher ceiling than last year.
that's kind of funny since he's not running that many plays and we're not really seeing the sac offense out there.
If they do that, the first thing RA will do is quit. He's the coach and the decisions that are made on the floor, in practice and during games, are his decisions.
I think several teams have hands tied until 12/15, when a lot of players can be dealt (I believe Morey alluded to that before). So I assume we'll see more activity across the league in two weeks. Let me add though that I know for sure Morey expected the Rockets to struggle out of the gate ... not sure they expected to be 6-1 then 3-8, but I know he expected the Rockets to be slow because numbers show new coaches/new systems generally start slow as the players adjust.
Clutch, I wonder if he thought they would have this slow a start? I figured it would be a bit of a struggle but having Yao and Tmac still on the team thought they would be about .600 winning until February and really take off. DD
You guys that think Morey is actually going to "do" something are smoking some VERY strong stuff. People only make changes when a problem becomes recognized. You can bet your last dollar that the management of the Rockets think everything is perfectly fine. Just a slow start. I'm just a dumbarse poster on the internet who happens to think "slow" is an adjective that better describes the personnel Morey has assembled than the "start". IMHO, the Rockets' management has been behind the curve in recognizing the importance of speed and athleticism in today's NBA. It won't be recognized by the All Star break. $Ball is a risk averse methodology. The All Star break is far too soon of a time horizon for change under this methodology. It'll take another first round exit.
Considering we had the toughest schedule so far, we're not too far off the mark. The schedule can only get easier.
Nothing wrong with a slow start, but that shouldn't include losing to teams like the Heat, Grizzlies, and the Queens.
Fire Adelman and bring back RudyT...then all the "starting line-up" and "rotation" problems will be solved automatically...
Everybody expected a slow start. But nobody really thought Battier, MJ, Bonzi, and Luther would suddenly forget how to make wide open shots. Nobody thought Reefer could suck anymore then he did last year, but he is proving all of us wrong.
