Needs? Wants? be realistic....IMHO i think we need a slasher that takes it to the hole. Ideally the Battier for Maggette trade would be great for Houston but i don't think it could happen unless we give up more. I believe Luther is lost in this system and packaged together with Battier for Maggette? Then you could change the rotation to. Yao/Hayes Scola/Landry Maggette/Wells McGrady/Francis Rafer/James/Brooks and some how work Landry & Brooks into games especially when we have large leads. Brooks can hit the three and Landry can get a layup you loose this with Rafer and Hayes. Mutombo shouldn't play another minute unless there is an injury to Yao, he is a total waste now can't catch the ball gets lost in the plays and gets a defense violation called on him every game. This is a game of posessions and the more we capitalize on the better.
Pros *Maggette-Dunleavy relationship *Player option after this season *Media spec that Clippers want to trade Maggette for a better fit with Brand
I have already mentioned in a previous post we won't be able to get Maggette for Battier/Head. Every team is looking to get faster.Do you think the Clippers are going to be happy with a slow moving Battier and a short 2 like Head who couldn't shoot when it mattered in the playoffs?
Can we please somehow get J. Calderon!? dude is unbelievable, 7.6 assists in 25 minutes! 2007-08 TOR 16 25:00 4.1 8.3 48.9 0.6 1.6 36.0 1.0 1.1 88.9 0.3 2.4 2.6 7.6 1.4 0.8 0.1 1.2 9.7 and look at that assist : TO ratio, 7.6:1.4, how does he do that!?
I would send out my search agents to every continent. I would be looking for a penetrating Point Guard who was a Playmaker, he would be at least 6'5" tall and have court vision, great leaping and passing ability, ability to score when needing to do so. A Magic Johnson type player I would develop two great three point shooters who could be role players coming off the bench. Novac & AB I would develop one great defensive stopper, who would be a role player coming in from the bench, he would have the ability to also be a great scorer Ron Artest. I would try to have as few short players as possible. I would have Forwards forcing opponent Forwards to play them both ends of the court. Centers guarding and playing against Centers. Jerry Sloan is the expert with all the moves to make the last two sentences happen.
I would trade yao becuz he's soft, trade T-mac because he is not clutch. Then, I would fire Ricky Adelman and hire JVG back after Rick loses 2 consecutive games, and then fire JVG when the team fails to score over 80 points. I would force the hater coach to start Steve francis because he has a big heart. I think that would solve all the problems of the team.
Realistically we don't have the resources to get better than what we are right now this year IMO.The only potential trading asset we probably have is Scola possibly in combination with Steve Francis if both of them can play well consistently. I would hate to do that.Every GM obviously wants to get a better deal,so you can't expect them to give anyone who could really make the Rockets a dangerous team. I would stand put with what we have for now even though we are not a 1st tier team rather than getting inferior players. Yao and T-Mac are fairly soft players but trading them isn't likely to make us a championship team either. I think our needs are getting a true PG who can penetrate, shoot and defend against the faster and bigger PG's in the league. We also need an athletic, tall 5 who can defend, rebound, and get some points to help Yao out. A better 2/3 swingman for the future could also help.I feel that the Rockets will have to see if they can get a good player relatively cheaply around the trading deadline and for more talent in free agency and perhaps in the draft next year. I have learned a few things from many guys who are far more knowledgeable than me. I don't think myself as an armchair GM by any means, and I always welcome any comments from anyone about our beloved Houston Rockets.
I'm thinking Morey is now looking around for struggling/rebulding/young teams to see what useful vets they might want to dump for additional youth. Thus, I'm thinking primary trade baits are Luther, Brooks, and maybe Landry or Snyder. A short contract like Bonzi could also be packaged to make the math work. I think Battier will stay put as he is useful. Rafer and Mike will stay, too... they do bring something, and their contracts are long.
I would not want to include Aaron Brooks in a trade. A thread I had thought of starting is a trade that would upgrade the team's starting PG position that would include Rafer. I would say that he could be part of a package along with the likes of Luther, Landry, Snyder, Novak, or even Wells for another team's PG who would really be an upgrade to Rafer.
